 Downtime

Definition

Time in which a resource is not productive

In the standard system, the most commonly used downtimes arepredefined. Along with these predefined downtimes, you can alsodefine your own user-specific downtimes.

Use

In industries with production, resource efficiency and resourceutilization are very important figures. Elementary indicators for themare the different downtimes. In the SAP System, downtimes can eentered and evaluated in SAP !" #SAP !usiness Information"arehouse$ or %IS #%ogistics Information System$.

Structure

&owntimes are assigned when you enter downtime elements. Eachdowntime element descries a predefined downtime category.

&efault times are availale for some of the downtime elements toma'e it easier to enter them. They are calculated from data thatcomes from different components in the SAP System. &efault timesare availale, for e(ample, for vacation, non-productive days, rea's,shift changes, setup, teardown, repair and maintenance times.

The downtime elements are grouped in categories that show thesame characteristics or a usiness mutuality. The categories arepredefined. )ou cannot create your own categories. )ou also cannotchange the assignment of predefined downtime elements to the

categories.

Downtime Categories

Production-related downtime All downtimes in production that cane scheduled as operations orphases, such as setup or teardowntime.

*onproduction-related downtime +achine-related malfunctions as well

as malfunctions that are not machine-related, such as a decrease incapacity, environment prolems, or ashortage of material or laor.

rder-related downtime The duration of a whole order thatoccupies the resource for purposesother than production, such ase(periments at a resource or thee(ternal use of a resource .

"or' center-related downtime or e(ample, maintenance, rea's,shift changes.

Plant-related downtime or e(ample, vacation or holidays

Integration

The default values for the duration of downtimes are calculated ythe SAP system. They come from the resouce master data, the orderand fromPlant Maintenance #P+$. The following tale descries howand from where the default values are determined.

Function Modules for Downtime Default Values

The following tale contains a list of the function modules availalefor determining default values in the standard system.

Function Module Description

1ollect2!rea'2&T 0eads the rea' time defined in thestandard availale capacity in theresource master data #ResourceCapacity: Header  screen$

1ollect2Service2&T 0epair

1ollect2Shift2&T Time etween shift finish and shiftstart #several are possile on oneday$. The shifts are defined in theresource master data.

1ollect23oliday2&T 0eads the days from the factorycalendar that are defined as non-

wor'ing days.

1ollect2Stopage2&T The data for the non-productive timecomes from plant maintenance. 3ereeach resource is assigned an internalnumer for a functional location. Thefunction module reads the data fromthe downtime statistics tale for eachfunctional location and each day.

1ollect2Setup2&T After order confirmation, the setup

and teardown time is written in theorder. This function module reads thesetup times from the manufacturingorders #production or process orders$.

1ollect2Tear2&own2&T After order confirmation, the setupand teardown time is written in theorder. This function module reads theteardown times from themanufacturing orders #production orprocess orders$.

)ou can also define your own downtimes and display a report of alldowntimes that e(ist in your enterprise. )ou can use a user-e(it to determinethe default values.

The downtime data is sent oth to SAP !" as well as to %IS where itcan e evaluated according to how it is categorized.
