NIGHTTIME SANTA PARADESaturday, Nov 18Once again we will welcome Santa and his reindeer to downtown Kingston for the 14th annual Nighttime Santa Parade on Saturday, Nov. 18. The Parade will leave Innovation Park (Princess at Bath) at 5 pm and make its way down Princess Street to Ontario Street. We encourage businesses along Princess Street to stay open a little later to greet the crowds and maybe even offer them a warm beverage! The parade will finish in Springer Market Square at 7:15 pm with the annual tree lighting ceremony!

SHOP AFTER DARKFriday, Dec 1, 5pm – 9pmJoin downtown businesses as they launch the holiday season with treats, holiday beverages, great shopping and a festive atmosphere - and maybe even a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus! This event is all about shopping local and the special experience of shopping downtown during the holidays!

SANTA IN THE SQUARESaturdays, Dec 2, 9, 16, 23Springer Market Square: 11 am to 2 pm. Saturdays in December Santa comes to Springer Market Square to visit all the boys and girls in Kingston! Don’t forget your camera and bring your skates! This is a free event open to anyone who has been extra nice.

HOLIDAY NIGHT HOURSMonday-Friday, Dec 11 – 22Once again this year, we will be running our Holiday Night Hours program and encouraging retail stores to stay open later into the evening. Holiday Night Hours participants will stay open until at least 8 pm Monday to Friday from Dec. 11 - 22, allowing holiday shoppers to fill their stockings in downtown Kingston!

2017 PEWTER COLLECTIBLESFirst release date is Monday Nov. 13 followed by the next four Mondays.

Ornaments will be available at several outlets downtown for only $10 each (with receipts from downtown businesses totaling purchases of $25 or more). The 2017 Pewter Collectibles will be announced in the coming weeks!

The Downtown Kingston! office has hired a part-time street maintenance staff person to help downtown businesses keep their sidewalks clean and supplement City maintenance efforts this fall.

Please remember that downtown sidewalk maintenance is ultimately the responsibility of downtown businesses/property owners. The City of Kingston

on Public Works and DK! office employ resources to assist business/property owners with sidewalk maintenance including street maintenance staff, sidewalk sweeping machines, street sweeping machines, and sidewalk pressure washes.

Please ensure the sidewalk adjacent to your business/commercial property is maintained and kept clean of garbage and cigarette butts. Bars and restaurants - consider setting out a can for your patrons who smoke and make sure to clean up after them.

By-Law Number 2004-190, 4.55The owner, occupant or person in charge of every: (1) commercial property within the designated Downtown Business Improvement Area (B.I.A.) which adjoins a sidewalk; (2) building to which the public has access; and (3) place of worship, shall keep the adjoining sidewalk free of all obstructions, refuse and debris, except in accordance with the applicable by-law or by-laws regulating the collection, removal and disposal of waste.
