Dhoni’s visit to DPS
From the Director’s Desk
On the special occasion of Teacher’s Day I congratulate all who are with me in
this noble profession and wish everyone the best of days ahead as we strive
together to enlighten minds and create a brighter future for our country. It is
believed that the only salvation of a society lies on the shoulders of the teachers
and rightly so in the purpose of our lives rests the glory of our nation. Paying
tribute to the great soul of Dr. A P J Kalam I urge teachers to ‘reach’ children
more than just ‘teach’ and grow more trees for them to enjoy a beautiful earth.
What does being a teacher mean to me……...
It means being a creator that is why we say गुॄागुॄागुॄागुॄा गुवं णुःगुवं णुःगुवं णुःगुवं णुः गुदवोगुदवोगुदवोगुदवो महेरःमहेरःमहेरःमहेरः । । । ।
My opinion on teaching - a challenging profession……...
Teaching is a challenging profession because one works with young minds eager to know everyday
something new. It requires one to update oneself with hard work, have a focussed approach for holistic
education which is the need of the hour. In order to be a good teacher one needs to address the
problems of children. It calls for a lot of emotional understanding and empathy from the teacher. It
means a lot of responsibility, commitment and hard work. Most importantly it is a continuous learning
process and that is why I prefer to call myself a learning officer / Person. A teacher is one who learns
every day.
The special moment of my life as a teacher……...
I have two special moments in my life as a teacher. First was when Prasoon Kr Jha got the coveted All
India Rank in IIT-JEE. The other students rushed to school in their casuals while Prasoon took more
time to reach school and came in a spick and span uniform and touched my feet. On enquiry he said
since the school norm was that students should come in proper uniform to school, he took time to go
back home to wear the uniform. Another special moment was when Abhay Kumar Jha won gold
medal for his brilliant International Rank One in the International Mathematics Olympiad and had
called from Washington D.C. I was exuberant and thought every child should get an opportunity in-
cluding those from deprived sections of society. That instinctive feeling urged me to work towards
the establishment of DEEPANSH – a Shiksha Kendra which is run under the aegis of DPS Bokaro for
the children from the marginalised sections of the society. Today the school is into its teens and pro-
vides education to children up to class VII. Soon we started KOSHISH- a vocational training centre for
the mothers and sisters of these children of Deepansh, for empowering them with skills for financial
self sustenance.
A red letter day
14.07.2015 it was for
the 325 students of DPS
Bokaro who received
the regularity award for
100 % attendance from
the Indian national
cricket captain for the
limited overs format,
Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
T he camp u s
roared with the excited
cheers of ‘Dhoni’ as the
legendary cricket star
waved to the assembly
of students and made his
impressionable presence
felt amidst the stars of
tomorrow. Received
with warm hospitality
the captain accepted a
sapling from the stu-
dents the eco warriors
and ambassadors of the
green campaign. The
morning assembly be-
gan with a prayer by the
Director and Principal,
Dr. Hemlata S Mohan
and was followed by the
choir, the thought of the
day and the news head-
lines. The students were
humbled by the inspira-
tional address by Dhoni.
They took in every idea,
every experience shared
by the captain as he
shared fond memories of
his school days. He said
leaders lead by example.
Champions don’t do
different things they do
differently.

Teacher’s Expression
PROUD TO BE A TEACHER
My Vocation
It would not be an
exaggeration to say
that teaching is the
most satisfying and
noble profession. We
nurture the children
into bright and intelligent individuals
ready to take on the world. The
challenges are immense but the ends
justify everything.
Peerless Experiences
As I walk down a road a boy rushes to
me from across the road and touches my
feet, “Madam do you recognize me?” he
says and starts narrating his success
story. My heart swells with pride at his
success and it increases manifold when
he attributes that success to my
mentorship. Such instances are an
everyday affair in a teacher’s life.
Recently while I was travelling, I met
two students. They made me feel like a
queen as they took charge of my luggage
trolley and their success stories gushed
forth with enthusiasm. I felt blessed and
thanked God for blessing my
students…….
My Avocation
A teacher affects eternity one can never
tell where the influence stops. We
facilitate a child’s metamorphoses and it
would not be an understatement to say
that we shape their destiny. This is the
reason that in the Indian scriptures the
teachers have been accorded a status of
God or Guru. We need to foster our
students’ well-being, rise up to their
expectations and be a good role model
for them. Believe me the task is
immensely pleasurable, not just a
vocation but an avocation!!
Teaching is a challeng-
ing profession. This is
because a teacher has to
tread very carefully as
he/she is a role model
whom so many students
emulate.
I feel exhilarated when I see my
students excelling in their chosen fields
and leaving a trail behind for the others
to follow.
To me teacher is like a sculptor who has
the ability t o mould and smoothen
and give the desired shape to the
student’s personality.

“It takes a big heart to
help shape little minds.”
A teacher to me is like a
special gardener who
sows the seeds in form
of values, emotions,
strengths, takes care of the child and
reaps the benefit of the crop in form of
immense love and respect. A teacher
takes a hand, opens a mind and touches
a heart. I am immensely thankful to
God that I am a TEACHER.
Ms P. Shailaja Jayakumar
A single candle lights a
thousand others. It
burns itself as it
illuminates the world
around. The life of a
teacher is thus. The
beauty of being a
teacher is to feel the exhilaration and
thrill of being in the presence of
intellectuals, the learners-active, alive,
thinking and responding. No other
profession can be as adventurous and
challenging as this - where body, mind
and soul work in unison and impact the
hearts around with the fragrance of love
and light of knowledge. A teacher
works selflessly in the spirit of sacrifice,
beams brightly through the virtues of
charity and radiates with the awareness
of divinity.
Ms Abha Sharma
Teaching is a
c h a l l e n g i n g
profession as a
teacher has to
keep abreast with
the latest develop-
ments in order to teach today’s com-
puter-age pupils.
Special Moment in my life is when
someone suddenly comes and
touches my feet and with a gleam in
the eyes says “Mam, remember me?
You taught me in Class V.”

Mr Anjani Bhushan
Being a teacher is to
unfurl creativity and
imagination in myriad
ways and to train stu-
dents to unleash their
hidden talents to add
colours to this beautiful world with their
brushes of innovative thinking.
A teacher motivates stu-
dents to inculcate values
of regularity, discipline
and dedication the three
pillars to success.

P A G E 4 Tribute to Teachers
V O L U M E 1 I , I S S U E 1 I
For a teacher every student is special and for a student every teacher is special. Choosing one out of
all the teachers in your life could be a daunting task but not in my case. Dr. Hemalata S Mohan, Our
Director & Principal, has been very special for me. As a Dipsite every student occupies a very special
place in her heart but for me she occupies a very special place in my heart. Reasons are not important
but she has been very inspiring over the years. Sometimes I think that whatever I am today is because
of her only because if someone whispers into your ears always- “You can do it” you are charged from
within and you say to yourself “Yes I can do it”. This was what ma`am did for me. She keeps insisting
on the fact that man is powerful and a lot can be done by the power of self motiva-
tion. Real victory comes to only those who are motivated. And yes I was motivated.
I don`t know whether I could motivate myself as an outcome of self motivation or
not but she did motivate me.
A tribute to her would be difficult because there`s so much to
integrate and my lingual powers have limitations. But as she says let`s try. When a
swan walks in to the pond a wave of energy is visible. She is the swan. When bonfire
is kindled the warmth is not visible but you know that it is always there. She is like
the warmth. The earth has a lot of terrains- grass and mountains and deserts. You
can`t see the earth as a whole anyhow. She`s the earth where you see the part you
live in. When an author writes you can`t see the author but you can see the feeling.
She is like the author. She is like the delicacies spread out on a table
which give out an aroma that transfixes your gaze and olfaction. She is
an angel. ANKIT JHA –12/B
This couplet by Saint Kabir truly brings out the importance, dignity and
position of a teacher. A pupil was in a dilemma of whom to worship first
when he had both his teacher or guru and the Lord standing in front of
him. Then the Almighty told him that he must worship his guru first be-
cause it is the ‘guru’ who shows everyone the path to the Almighty. When it comes to pay a tribute to my teachers I find
it extremely difficult to find words because each and every teacher who has come into my life, has played a special role.
My teachers have worked really hard on me to mould me into a beautiful and precious being, from damp clay of no
worth. ‘Thank you’ is really a small word to them in return for what they have given me but still I thank each and every
teacher from the bottom of my heart .This is my tribute to all my wonderful and loving teachers. In the world
of darkness , you shine like a light, gave those teachings that made me bright .You have a corner in my heart ,
which is occupied by few. In a tribute , I always bow before you.
MANOGYA UPADHYAY-12/L
A Poet once said:
Teacher! Who has a world of ready wealth
Our minds and hearts to bless-
Spontaneous wisdom breathed by health,
Truth breathed by cheerfulness
A teacher is the light in the darkness, a guide who teaches us to traverse the journey called life. Teachers are more than
mere educators, for they hold a noble profession and play many roles in a student’s life-the role of a mentor, advisor or
the basic guiding force.
Since days immemorial, Indians have shown a deep respect for their teachers. The way we refer to
them though has changed from ‘Guru’ to ‘Sir’ or ‘Madam’ but the role of teachers remains the same. They still are our
guides to the path of success and we are grateful to them for the noble work they do.
We pay tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President and Second President of
India, whose birthday we Indians celebrate as Teachers’ Day. We can never thank our teachers enough for
their efforts still I take courage to say THANK YOU to all our teachers for the innumerable ways that they
inspire us and guide us. Thank you for the patience you have while dealing with us. Your words are soft and
beautiful footprints etched in our hearts and minds forever!

A dream in those eyes I had seen
For what I am and want to be
No one was I, am now and would be
If thou would have never stood by me.
Stood there a time when I was zero
Knew nothing all alone, just an echo
You were the one to support and guide
Evoked the courage to dare the night
To face the dark possible-would never be
If thou would have never stood by me.
The words you spoke are brimming in heart
For lessons of success you have taught
And today when I stand here and look behind
You stand with me time and again
Now I have realised -
The dream in those little eyes,
Would have never come true
Had you been not there
No one was….. I am now…. and would be
Had you been not there.

Teaching is a disci-pline which educates the progressive gen-erations on what has gone by, where we are and where we want to be.
T h e greatest challenge of teachers today is the alarming gap be-tween the expected quality of results versus the actual quality of results and to find out ways to bridge the gap.
Mr Dharmendra Kr
As a teacher, I strongly believe
that nurturing and nourishing
students must be my utmost
concern. I dream of students
whose fullest potentials are
developed to make them be-
come responsible citizens. My
task is not just delivering the
lesson in the sour corners of
the classroom but rather serve
them as a second parent.
B e i n g a teacher is to
possess a tremendous power to make a child’s life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspi-ration. I can humiliate or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.
When I am in front of the class, demonstrating and explaining, I learn a great deal.
A teacher is a motivator, facilita-tor who dedicates his life for the cause of educating children. He never looks for anything in return of his service towards children.

“I am a teacher not by chance but by choice. It is a wonderful experience of constant interaction with the dynamic young minds. A holistic process of shar-ing knowledge with the younger genera-tion. A happiness of grooming them as successful and responsible citizens of tomorrow. Ms Jyotsana Mandal Ms Trupti Dutta
“A teacher teaches from the frame of reference of a student with no authority of his own perception. He motivates the children for holistic develop-ment by virtue of being a role model for honesty, integrity, punctuality, truthfulness and perseverance. He understands the aptitude of every child of his classroom and teaches to satisfy all. His knowledge is not confined to a single textbook, rather he is a collection of many textbooks. In his classroom, he is the textbook, the refer-ence book and the discussion channel. His discussion does not stop in the class, but excites a child for further study at higher levels. He ensures that every child feels being in safe hand for his subject. And finally, he should always motivate a child for exploring scientific temper in the life and also in his own life.”
Mr C.P.Singh
Being a teacher I feel , it is my responsibility to prepare young people to lead successful and productive lives. I feel effective teachers can be a source of inspiration and equally importantly provide a de-pendable and consistent influence on young people as they make choices about further education work and life .Teacher’s are nation builders .As a teacher I strongly believe in this prayer -“ Help us ‘o’ Lord to penetrate into the secret of the child ,so that we may know him ,love him and save him according to your laws of justice and following your divine will ” .
