He joined the Institute at an early age of 16 after his Higher Secondary from the West Ben- gal Board of Secondary Education and did B.Stat(Hons), M.Stat and Ph.D. and joined the Institute as a faculty. He has a rich experience of more than 30 years in the field of teaching, training, consulting and research in Statistics, Optimisation and Quality Management. His research area has been Game Theory as well as Applied Data Analysis. He has au- thored a book in Game Theory as well as a text book in statistics for sophomore students and has more than a dozen publication in national and international journals. He has taught Graduate and Undergraduate courses in Universities in India and the US and also visited Netherlands, Germany, Belgium etc for research and conference related purposes. He has trained technocrats and guided them in Quality Control and Optimi- sation activities in their companies.

Dr.Amit K Biswas is an Associate Professor in the Indian Statistical Institute in it’sStatistical Quality Control and Operations Research(SQC&OR) Unit in Chennai. In recent years he is specialising in Analytics area by organising Training Program, Con-ferences as well as collaborating with Industries in solving their problems. He has aspecial interest in Government Sector projects and training. Currently working withGoTN in several projects, Development of Cleanliness Index, and control and monitor-ing of food prices to name a few. National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Managementunder the Department of Environment, Forest Climate Change, Government of India isanother important collaborating Institution for his research.

Dr.Biswas also teaches in a few Colleges in Chennai city and a few MBA schools indifferent parts of the country.
