LipoLift is the trademarked name of Dr. Darm's signature laser-assisted liposuction procedure (laser lipolysis) that permanently removes fat from the body. This minimally invasive surgical procedure is a popular body sculpting solution that “melts” fat with less pain, less downtime, and consistently favorable results. The laser is slipped through a very small hole in the skin and passed back and forth slowly dissolving fat and fat cells. The melted fat is then gently sucked out through a small cannula. One to two liters of fat can be removed during the procedure. Treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, arms, neck, and thighs. The laser helps to tighten the skin as much as 17% as opposed

to traditional liposuction techniques.

Unlike some national providers, you'll always meet with the doctor who will perform your procedure several days before your surgery. We'll also perform a full medical history and physical (H&P), Electrocardiogram (ECG), and blood workup to ensure that you're a good candidate for the procedure. Once the procedure is completed, your physician will schedule follow-up appointments to review your results.

SUN DAMAGE

(Acne Vulgaris) can produce emotional and physical pain, scarring and disfigurement. At Aesthetic Medicine, laser therapy is our longterm solution of choice for acne. Two different FDA approved lasers are used during the treatments. The treatments reduce scarring, redness and wrinkles at the same time. We have had patients remain in remission for several years after a series of treatments. However, some patients, especially teen-agers, may require ongoing maintenance treatments. Not all patients respond during the series of treatments.

Direct sunlight or over exposure in a tanning booth causes premature aging, wrinkles, loss of elasticity, brownish spots known as “age spots” or “liver spots” and several types of cancer. Even dark skin can be damaged by the sun, but very light skin is the most vulnerable. Sunburn accelerates these changes. Intense pulsed light devices (IPL) used at Aesthetic Medicine, such as the Syneron SRA target damaged areas. Biopsies of these areas have shown actual reversal of scarring, inflammation, broken capillaries, and pigmentation which characterize sun damaged skin. Significant rejuvenation can be accomplished with minimal down time. Several treatments are required to achieve desired results, but rejuvenation can be dramatic. These treatments are relatively painless.

ROSACEA BEFORE AND AFTERROSACEAOur center has performed over 10,000 treatments for rosacea over the past ten years. Treatments can help to remove the spider veins, diffuse redness, small red bumps, flushing and inflammation that rosacea produces. Significant clearing takes 3-9 treatments. There is normally minimal pain and downtime with each treatment. Touchups will need to be performed periodically to keep the rosacea under control. Appointments are usually scheduled 2-4 weeks apart until the desired results are achieved. Patients have travelled from all over the world to have treatments performed by Dr. Darm at Aesthetic Medicine.

ERASE THE YEARS

Aesthetic Medicine offers a full assortment of wrinkle-reducing injectible products (Botox® and Dysport®) for patients looking to reduce wrinkles and frown lines on the forehead, temple, and around the eyes. Interestingly, Botox® has also been found to alleviate migraine headaches when injected between the eyebrows.

We also offer filler products (Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, Juvederm Voluma®) for deep wrinkles around the mouth, between the eyebrows, and to enhance the lips. These products have an extremely low incidence of allergic reactions. Depending on the area treated, Injections will last anywhere from 3 to 12 months.

MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS At Aesthetic Medicine we offer a comprehensive medically supervised weight loss program for patients looking to lose a significant amount of body weight. Unlike programs that focus primarily on hypnosis or meetings with non-medical personnel, our weight loss program is designed and administered by an in-house physician and a staff of registered dieticians who focus on long-term results through one of our two main dietary programs:

The VLCD Program includes:

• 5 or more nutritionally balanced meal replacements a day

• Weekly medical supervision during the first month and once a month thereafter

• Weekly class or dietitian/nutritionist visit

• Weekly medical check-in

• Monthly lab work

• Monthly body composition analysis The HS program includes:

We evaluate thyroid hormone, percent of body fat, lean muscle mass, hydration, and metabolic rate. Again, the focus here is on providing a medically-supervised program that will provide long-term results through a combination of education and behavioral changes that encourage personal responsibility and healthier lifestyle choices.

While individual results will vary, participants in the Medical Weight Loss program can lose as much as 40 to 60 pounds in a 3 to 6 month period.

at OHSU. Dr. Darm opened his private practice, Aesthetic Medicine,

in 1995. Initially specializing in weight loss, he expanded to include hair

removal and rosacea treatments in 1997. Since that time, new services

are continually added to promote health, wellness and beauty. Dr Darm

has pioneered his own trademark procedures: LaserLift™ for the

treatment of wrinkles, LipoLift™ for the treatment of unwanted fat and
