P-20 refers to the education to workforce cycle that begins with pre-school or early childhood programs through K-12, into postsecondary education and ultimately into the workforce. We see it as an overall process but in reality, state agencies that provide services and programs are divided into overlapping sections of this process without extensive coordination. To achieve the goals of SB1, agencies must cooperate on these issues.
The P-20 Data Collaborative provides a platform for these agencies to coordinate the use of their data to better inform the education process and help answer questions like those posed through SB1.
• Agencies involved: KDE, CPE, EPSB, EWD
• Other agencies, such as the KY Higher Education Assistance Authority and others have been included in the planning phase to eventually complete the picture.
• KY’s P-20 data system will reflect the interests of all educational agencies and provide state and local policy makers with the necessary information to improve the system.
