As the day was growing older, not knowing that it would turn into anightmare, time for presentations came with Dr King screening asummary of all the 8 plans by power point. She urged the audience to pay extra attention to the presentations as

a moment for questions and clarifications would tag along. Thepresentations went on very well. An open session for questions andanswers followed with each of the business plan originators explainingtheir plan in detail. There were a number of questions and concernsthat were raised by the possible would be funders but theirapprehensions were clarified to their satisfaction. Dr King who reallyseemed to be so happy and proud of the success of this magnificentevent later invited everyone to socialize and interact while havingdrinks and snacks. There were other members in the audience who really wanted to havea close touch with the YouthIT finalists, a one on one talk and this

occasion accorded them just what they wanted. A photo sessionfollowed with the project finalist posing for memorable pictures thatwould remind them of their achievements.

Just around 4:30hrs in the afternoon, all of the sudden therewas some confusion at the leeway entrance of the embassy.Apparently, it was Dr Kings husband who had been in thelimelight. It appeared as if they had differed far way back

home and that his coming was a follow up on her. As theauthor of this reality, I did not personally witness what exactlyhappened but everything seemed to have turned out in asecond. Dr King had been locked up in one of the roomsupstairs by an embassy official for her own safety. Her

daughter, Ariana was left outside with Kennedy Kombe, one ofthe YouthIT project finalists. She was crying for her motherand went on crying for some minutes before she reunited withher. Dr King seemed so frightened and scared of her life. Herfacial expression was so visible that one would tell she hadundergone through some shocking instant. I noticed therewere some people who later were talking to her after theordeal. It could have been some US government securityofficials who supposedly were taking down some particulars. Its an assumption because I personally did not know who theywere. This could have helped Dr King to reintegrate and

quickly ease her mood back in the event. She must have beenso strong a woman because within no time, she was alreadytalking to some guests around. But a lot was let to be desired in the minds of a few guestswho saw what happened. I suppose there was a question to beanswered. A question like; what was happening in the Drs lifewith her husband for him to have acted like that at a publicevent? As embarrassing as it might have been for a successfuland powerful woman, it did happen to her who is also thePresident and CEO of Ariel Consulting International, aconsulting company that builds public private partnerships

worldwide with a focus on developing countries in Africa,Middle-East, Latin America, Pacific Islands and the Caribbean. This is a woman who has over 20 year of experience working withmulti-lateral, non-governmental organizations and faith basedorganizations in the areas of international health, international policy, and management. She has worked with the World Health Organization, and United Nations in Geneva. Dr. King is currently the United Nations'Representative for the National Council of Women of the United States.

According to adequate data that I gathered in a conversation with DrKing, It all started on the 18th of June when he left them. Their househad been given to another person. Dr Kings husband went to live inWashington DC but would not give his wife the address where he wasstaying. Dr King and her 5 year old daughter were left homeless and

without money. Typical of inhuman behavior. He had received the papers he needed as a doctor and then decidedthat my services were no longer needed she speaks thoughtfully,We, Ariana-Leilani and I lived with friends.... I had only $300 USD. Heclosed the credit cards and took my name off the bank accounts inGermany and emptied ari bank account. He said she was an "asset" to him when she asked if he loved her.Conclusively, she pondered that when she was an asset then she was aliability and he gets rid of her. That was ok with her but not just nice.So for 3 weeks Dr King and her daughter lived with other people. Oneperson they stayed with was a diplomat from Lesotho embassy. She

too was at the reception. My husband went to her house looking for meand her Excellency, Lesotho ambassador told her that I was holding areception at the Zambian embassy. We have been together for 13years and I did all for him to get his US credentials, then I was in theEmbassy. Ariana - Leilani was brought to me crying. She said, Papa,Papa! and that was all. Then while holding her in the front entranceof the Zambian Embassy, I see him come in and start to scream... I didnot say anything because he was so enraged, I could see it in his eyesthat I thought he would kill me and kill her She continues to narrate. Iran in back of the counselor's office and he continued to rant and raveabout me not paying the rent, all were lies! The secret service was

called by the counselor. I think that he has a mental issue.Schizophrenia and paranoiaBut his behavior was bizarre and dangerous.Later the police came inside the embassy and asked her whathappened... She told them and they told her "you have a problem; youneed to get a TPO." Temporary Protection Order. She did get one, but the permanent order hearing 2 weeks later wasdismissed because they said that the embassy was not US soil andthey had no jurisdiction. The DC police had to drive them out of DCbecause they were afraid for hers and her daughters safety. That iswhen her daughter broke down and cried, saying...."Papa was going to

take me in his car...he was going to break me... I don't want to bebroken." "Papa said he is not my friend anymore."After several times of almost losing her life because of her husband, inorder to save herself and her daughters she went to live in his smalltown in Germany. One of the Zambian Youth by the name of Kennedy Kombe told herthat he (the father) had tried to put her (Ariana-Leilani) in a car andthey stopped it.

For Ariana, she spoke of so many people now trying to give her help...She is so sick and scared says the doc. asking her whether she wasat the moment no right to be with her daughter. She said that theyhave joint custody but, that was not the issue. The issue now was thather daughter has a rare blood disease that can be acquired by drugs,

only since being with him. She says, Only 500 people are registered inthe world with it. We are still married and there is no custody order inplace in Washington DC.... so the legal stuff does not help the practicaland real stuff. The man has separated her daughter from all the people and placesthat she has ever known for complete control over her. No one isallowed to see her, talk to her, and send her cards, presents. After 6years with the same kids, she is in a new school, all to make sure thatshe does not feel safe, secure and able to tell what is happening toher... but this is all part two of the story, Her deliverance, with eitherdying from this rare blood disorder or being rescued is part 3 recounts

Dr King.Seemingly so touched and looking for lasting solution, I saw this stateof affairs as a quiet complicated an incidence. Asking her whether shehoped that she could work out something on whether she saw anyboth of them getting to reconcile, She responded saying; My first priority as her mother is to keep her alive, get her medicine

and medical help so that she does not die. My second priory is to gether safety and the psychological, spiritual help that she needs torebuild her and return her to the person that was torn down or"broken" she is only 7 and needs time to heal. My third priority is torally round him get the psychological aid and treatment that he needs

since he is so very dangerous. The most uncomplicated part of mylife now is that she has a right to life; she has a right not to bedrugged. She has a right to a basic human right to be heard. So, I am amother first and then a wife. He is not a well man. She says, Theperson you saw at the Embassy is the real man, who is ill and needsreal mental health intervention and medications. He only understandswhat is in his mind, he is paranoid and dangerous. He needs help. She hopes first to keep her daughter alive and then assist him to getthe help that he needs for his mental illness. I have neverexperienced anything like that in my life that was the mostfrightening display of being out of control that I have ever seen,

witnesses or have been a part of anywhere in the world! Her first priority is to keep her 7 year old alive. Not to do somethingagainst him. This article will not be published... I have not thought ofthat and would not think of doing that without your explicitpermission The trust that we have as colleagues and friends is sosacred to me and I would not betray it. I have learned that since I livewith integrity and honesty, faith in G-d and love, all that I do, many ofmy actions have this foundation. Thus, I am alive today and able to be

an instrument for some good in the world.Differences started imaging when her husband, who, of Germany originmanaged to get himself the papers he needed to work with the UnitedStates government. Professionally, a Medical Doctor, Dr Kingshusband had been staying with her for 13 years. During all this time,

the man had completely been relaying on her for his survival. Shewould pay all the bills and provide for him all that he needed. Underthe laws of the United States government, one is not eligible to getpensionable employment or engage in any legal entity unless he is aUS citizen, or he is married to a US citizen. It is under the later clausethat Dr Kings husband qualified to have this privilege. This of coursewent along with so much heartfelt sacrifice and unimaginable lovefrom Dr King.Ironically, things just turned the opposite direction with Dr Kingshusband. According to her, he became a cold man, not supportive, anunloving and uncaring husband who at one point told her in her face

that he did not love her anymore and didnt need her whatsoever asstated much earlier. This is the worst phrase that one would expect tohear from his/her partner. The man just became somebody else; DrKing described him as dangerous He had become abusive to bothher and their daughter. For fear of their daughters and her life, onedecides to live separate ways with her husband. She stayed with herfriends. They had been so helpful to her during this trying time. Thanksto them.Up to date, its really been a struggle to know exactly what hadbecome of Dr Kings husband on that day. Dr King is currently living inGermany where she has continued to do her work of consultancy in

health and childrens programs, her passionate occupation.END
