MED 1407 Course Synopsis

This is a 7 credit hours course during Phase 1 IIUM

MBBS programme to expose the students about Public

Health Medicine.

Public Health focus on the prevention aspect of health

and stress the important of the effect of surroundings

or environment to health, and how health can affect the

environment in return.

Students are required to conduct a simple survey among the population in Kulliyyah of Medicine (For example, among the first year medical students, staff, lecturers).

Students can choose any topic of research that is appropriate and not necessary to be health or disease related topic.

This survey is the practical part of the lecture on research methodology.

The students are expected to analyse the data based on lectures on biostatistics.
