Dr. Richard (Hong Wan) Kim – Allergist in Delaware

He has served on the staff of Christiana Care Hospital (section chief for 10 years), St. Francis Hospital, and the A.I. Dupont Institute.


Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from the Seoul National University, in Seoul Korea, where he graduated Cum Laude.


His graduate studies include an internship and residency at the Medical Center of Delaware (Currently C hristiana Hospital) in Newark, DE, and a fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Tennessee, in Memphis, Tennessee.


He is dual board-certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.


He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology, a member of the American College of Asthma Allergy and Clinical Immunology, a member of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Delaware Academy of Medicine. He is a main preceptor for the Resident program in Internal Medicine of the Christiana Care System.


He has published numerous articles in medical journals and has participated in clinical studies with pharmaceutical companies, including the EXCELS and the EXTRA studies, focusing on the treatment of asthma.


He also has served as a speaker for several Pharmaceutical Companies for management of Bronchial Asthma.


His main clinical interests are not only focused on allergic rhinitis, food allergy and hives, but he is also deeply interested in treating difficult sinusitis and difficult bronchial asthma cases.


Dr. Kim is a member of the Delaware Korean United Methodist Church and has participated in medical mission trips for the past seven years, including trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and has deep passion for the people in need.
