Research work completed during Ph.D. (Agri.):

Title: “Accumulatory effect of post biomethanated spentwash on carbon fractionations, yield and quality of soybean-wheat cropping sequence on Inceptisol.”

Objectives:

1. To study the effect of post biomethanated spentwash on carbon fractionations,

physical, chemical and biological properties of soil.

2. To study the effect of post biomenthanated spent wash on nutrient uptake, yield and

quality of soybean and wheat.

3. To study the correlation between carbon fractionations with physical, chemical and

biological properties of soil.

Conclusions:

The considering five years continuous application of post biomethanated spentwash it

was proved that the application of 25 % recommended dose of N fertilizer can be

replaced by spentwash for the soybean and wheat in sequence for increasing carbon

fractionations, uptake of nutrients, yield and quality of. However, for soybean crop,

the PBSW should be applied by one time controlled land application one month prior

to sowing and for wheat crop, either by one time controlled land application before

one month prior to sowing or through irrigation methods were found to be the best for

improving soil quality and increasing yield of soybean-wheat crops in sequence on

Inceptisol of Maharashtra.

Ph.D. Seminar: Use of Industrial By-products in crop production.

Research Work Completed during M.Sc. (Agri.):

Title: Effect of different levels of N and K with and without biofertilizers on yield, quality and nutrient uptake by Cowpea (Vigna sinensis L.) in lateritic soil of Konkan.

Objectives:

1) To study the effect of N and K levels on yield of Cowpea.

2) To study the effect of N and K levels on quality parameters of Cowpea.

3) To study the effect of N and K levels on content and uptake of nutrients by Cowpea.

4) To study the effect of N and K levels on chemical properties of Cowpea.

Conclusions:

The results indicated that the application of N:P2O5:K2O @ 30:50:30 kg ha-1 along

with seed inoculation has given superior results in seed yield, growth parameters,

yield contributing characters and micronutrients content in seed and stover. The

quality parameters like methionine content and uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn,

Zn and Cu were also higher due to application of N:P2O5:K2O @ 30:50:30 kg ha-1

along with seed inoculation over control.

M.Sc. Seminar: ‘Phosphorus nutrition in pulses grown in Konkan region.
