TRANSCRIPT
Many sinus sufferers will be pleased to see
the back of this pollen weather, only to have
their sinuses suffer through the biting winter.
The nose and sinuses are a bodies first line
of defense for its respiratory system. During
winter, the cold dry air interferes with this
defense by drying out the sinuses and taking
away the nasal membranes’ moisture to trap
specific alien matter.
1. HydratePlentiful water intake is
great for sinuses in all
seasons, but it is
especially important during
the winter, when water
intake generally decreases
for most people. Not
drinking water may also
thicken mucus and block
sinus exit, trapping toxins
inside.
2.Clean Surroundings
It is important to have a
clean dust-free
surroundings.Dust and
vacuum often in order to
get rid of allergens. It is
advisable to get heating
ducts cleaned and keep
bathrooms disinfected
as often as possible.
3. Personal HygieneGetting sick can be
prevented by washing
hands regularly and
maintaining personal
hygiene to avoid falling sick
because of germs. Laundry
should be done regularly
and winter clothes should be
checked for molds. Mold is
another enemy of sinuses
and clothes and homes
must be kept free of it.
4. Adjust Humidity
A humidifier can be
used to control the
humidity levels of cold
air indoors. A moderate
humidity percentage
ranging from 35 to 50 is
considered helpful for
dry mucus membranes.
