The New Evangelization

“CHRIST IS THE WAY. When Jesus first came among us, he offered a whole new way of living. The excitement spread as God’s Son, who is also one of us, announced the

coming of the kingdom. The invitation to discipleship and a place in the kingdom that he held out to those who heard him, he continues to hold out to you and to me today.1”

Our Mission:

Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church is a welcoming community that encourages and empowers our family of believers to use their unique talents to become active disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our Vision:

Casting a net to gather as many people as possible for the Kingdom of God.

Strategic Planning Implementation and Oversight:

St. Ann Parish discerns its direction and identifies the resources needed to meet that direction by the process of strategic planning. It also establishes an accountability system to manage progress.

The Principles of a Strategy-Focused Parish are:

Mobilize all changes and renewal through the Pastor, Leadership Team, and Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Translate strategy into operational plans for the organizations and ministries to implement Align the Parish organization to the PSP to ensure that all activities support the Parish mission and vision Motivate the Parish community to make the PSP everyone’s focus Implement timely accountability measures that monitor the progress of Parish activities on a regular basis

Organizational Structure

Worship: PPC Chairperson, Bereavement, Liturgical Environment/Little Flower Altar Guild, Liturgical Minister Training (Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Greeters, Lectors, Ministers of Hospitality, Sacristans, Ushers), Liturgy Committee, Music Ministry/Choirs, and Youth Liturgies

Liturgy is the “summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time, it is the foundation from which her power flows. It is in the Liturgy that we celebrate who we are and what we believe as a Christian Community.” (Vatican II, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy)

Word: PPC Chairperson, Marriage Preparation (FOCCUS), Ongoing Christian Formation Committee (Adult Faith Formation, Faith Foundation Courses, Library, Scripture Studies), Prayer, Religious Education (Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), Sacramental Preparation, Vacation Bible School), Young Adult Ministry, and Youth Ministry

“The gradual manner of God’s self-revelation, manifested in Scripture, is a model for the catechetical efforts of the Church. The full content of revelation can be communicated best to those able by reason of maturity and prior preparation to hear and respond to it. Catechetics for children and young people should find completion in a catechetical program for adults.” (To Teach as Jesus Did, p. 13)

Community: PPC Chairperson, Adoration, Knights of Columbus, Knit Wits, Mom’s Group, Rosary Guild, Saint John Newmann Regional Academy (SJNRA), Scouts, Senior Adults, Sports (adult softball, John Bower basketball, Catholic Youth Organization (CYO)), Welcoming Committee, and Women’s Guild

“Community” focuses on encouraging parishioner participation in the liturgical, catechetical, and pastoral ministries of the Parish by increasing parishioner participation in Parish life, developing greater cross-cultural participation in Parish ministries and activities, and ensuring that ministries address Parish needs. The overall goal is to foster a more welcoming and diverse community that prays, works, and grows.

Service: PPC Chairperson, Charity Awareness and Response Empathy (C.A.R.E.) Network, (Family Promise, Financial Assistance, Food Assistance, Parish Legislative Network, Pastoral Care, Prison, Respect Life, Social Concerns), Cemetery Care, Oblates of St Benedict, and Open Heart (Sick & Homebound)

“The central message is simple: our faith is profoundly social. We cannot be truly Catholic unless we hear and heed the Church’s call to serve those in need and work for justice and peace.” (Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Ministry of the Parish, 1993)
