Digipak First Draft The Album artworks that influenced me the most are seen here. All demonstrating illustrated cartoon like images, often exaggerated and surreal. Themes such as fire and natural imagery is often used, something I plan to include in my own artwork. This exaggerated surreal imagery is influenced by the 60s psychedelic era, subverted by the modern alternative rock/pop punk genres to create a sense of irony. Colour used by The Flaming Lips such as greens, reds and yellow are suitable to my ideas and will form a great connection to the genre and influences of my artwork. The imagery of flames used by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Neckdeep are also great identifiers to the genre and provided a great springboard to form my idea. Digipak First DraftThe Album artworks that influenced me the most are seen here.

Here is a rough sketch of my idea formed by the influences of case studies preformed on artist from the same or similar genres. I also decided to use a drum kit as the focal point of my cover as the genre is often know for the organic use of instruments, then deciding on the drum kit due to its focus in my music video.

For my back and inside covers I have decided to keep the slides minimal to contrast with the exaggeration of the front. Similarly to what is seen on the Gorillaz covers, I have decided to use one specific aspect of my front cover and carry this through to the inside and back to connote to a brand and fully indulge a theme.

For the inside I have decided to take the flames and clouds and cover each side in one of these aspects, carrying through the bold colours.

On the back cover I have decided to use a similar red from the flames used throughout, also using a simplified and smaller version in the corner.

I have also selected some potential fonts to used for the name of the band and the song titles. Like the Arctic Monkeys I liked the use of a large, stylised name and simplistic bold song titles, contrasting and complimenting each other. Using black also enables an eye catching visibility, used by Gorillaz as well as a bold font which emphasises this section of the slide and drawing the eye to read more. For the band name I decided to use a font that connotes to the horror genre as bands often make this connection themselves

Similarly, I will carry through the flame motif to the disk acting as if they are engulfing the disk as they cup the middle ring. As with the back pages, the brand is often carried through to the disk as seen with the Neckdeep disk. The band name will also appear on the disk in a semi circle as on the Offspring disk. The New Found Glory disk also provides influence on how I wish to position and the style in which I wish to have the band name. The use of band name on the disk also reinforces the sense of brand, helping to create and take ownership of their style.
