In its continuing advocacy to give recognition to Architect members of the United Architects of the Philippines who have shown commendable achievements, commitment and made significant contributions to the profession in the early stage of their architectural career, we are now seeking nominations for the UAP Young Architects Award 2018. Enclosed for proper guidance are the guidelines for the selection of the UAP Young Architects Award for the year 2018. The UAP Chapter shall address the nominations to the National Chairman of UAP Young Architects Committee, Ar. Patrick N. Rodriguez, UAP, Thru Officer-In-Charge, Ar. John Carlo L. Sayco, who will serve as the Chairman of Screening and Technical Requirement Review and Selection Committee and authorized representative respectively. The nominations shall be submitted to UAP and received by authorized personnel Ms. Jennyby Abanto at the UAP National Headquarters No. 53 Scout Rallos Street, Diliman, Quezon City on or before 15 June 2018, 5:00 in the afternoon. Guidelines on the UAP Young Architects Award 2018 The United Architects of the Philippines Committee on Young Architects, through its Chairman, Ar. Patrick N. Rodriguez, uap, will be launching the third UAP Young Architects Award for FY 2017-2018. The Young Architects Award is given to individuals who have shown exceptional leadership, commitment and made significant contributions to the profession in an early stage of their architectural career. Architect members of the United Architects of the Philippines who are 40 years old and below within 2018, active regular members in good standing in a regular Chapter for at least three (3) continuous years prior to nomination and have been licensed to practice architecture are eligible to be nominated. This Award is composed of two (2) categories: Category 1- Outstanding Young Architect in the Architectural Practice Category 2-Outstanding Young Architect in the Academe All UAP Chapters may nominate ONE individual for each category. The following guidelines shall apply for the selection of the “Young Architects Award” to be conducted by the UAP Selection Committee: A. General Criteria. The candidate must:

1. Be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines.

2. Be duly registered with Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), with a valid and

current professional identification card.

3. Have an age of 40 years and below within 2018.

4. Have been in active practice for at least three (3) years prior to nomination.

5. Be of good moral character, an active and good standing member of a regular UAP

Chapter for at least three (3) continuous years prior to nomination.

6. Not have been found guilty in an administrative case, by final and executory decision,

rendered by a professional regulatory board, the PRC, or the regular courts in case of an

appeal.

7. Not have been convicted of a final judgment by a court of competent jurisdiction

of any crime involving moral turpitude

C. Procedure for Nomination 1. The UAP Chapter shall address the nominations to the National Chairman of UAP Young Architects Committee, Ar. Patrick N. Rodriguez, uap, Thru Officer-In-Charge Ar. John Carlo L. Sayco, who will serve as the Chairman of Screening and Technical Requirement Review and Selection Committee and authorized representative respectively. The nominations shall be submitted to UAP and received by authorized personnel Ms. Jennyby Abanto at the UAP National Headquarters No. 53 Scout Rallos Street, Diliman, Quezon City on or before June 15, 2018 5:00 in the afternoon. Late submissions will not be accepted. 2. Five (5) copies of the following documents shall be submitted: a. UAP Nomination Form (see attached) b. Chapter Board Resolution c. Nominee’s Profile with the following required information (see attached)

d. A statement of contributions not to exceed two pages that illustrates the effect of the nominee's work. This should include information that demonstrates: 1) the value of design, practice, or education; 2) the value of giving back to the profession through work with the UAP, mentoring, etc.; and 3) the value of giving back to the community where you are actively serving the greater community not in a paid capacity.

Exhibits (maximum of 20 pages) with images and/or drawings or other materials that best demonstrate the outstanding accomplishments made by the candidate including confirmation that the candidate was responsible for the projects listed. All works submitted must have been fully constructed and turned over to the client of not more than 3 years from the date of the nomination. To use A4 size paper, colored photos in high resolution and all the descriptions to be in Arial font, size 12. A Declaration of Responsibility should be attached per project. (See attached). f. Photocopy of the nominee’s PRC Identification Card g. Five one-page letters of support from clients that are explicit in their recommendation and contain specific reasons supporting the candidate's nomination (the one page letter is to be written on company letterhead and signed with either an original or electronic signature). h. Birth Certificate from PSA/NSO 3. Nominations that do not comply with these requirements and procedures will NOT be acted upon. 4. The deadline for submission of the nominees set by the Committee shall be FINAL and NOT subject for any extension. Selection of Awardees

1. The Screening and Technical Requirement Review Committee will be in charge of the scrutiny of requirements of the candidates and eligibility and shall be composed of 3-man team of the UAP - Committee on Young Architects. The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Officer-In-Charge (in case of the Chairpersons Absence) of the Awards Proceedings and a standing member of the committee on young architects will compose the group. After due dlligence in checking the requirements, the eligible candidates forms and requirements will be lifted to the Selection Committee which is composed of the following.

2. The Screening & Technical Requirement Review Committee shall review the applications and prepare short list the nominees. The Selection Committee shall then conduct a panel interview to the nominees who will be included in the short list. 3. The final nominees selected shall be officially notified in writing of his/her selection and shall be invited to attend Young Architects Awarding Ceremony during the Annual Recognition Night. The final date and time will be announced. The winners will be declared during this event. 4. The winner/s for each category shall receive the following:
