,ore proficient with certain Skill /ines. The differences are not $ast7 0ut they e:ist. ou will not

necessary 0e ,ore successful with different classes7 0ut certainly skill lines.

The 0est way would 0e to si,ply gi$e you a list of all the racials 3a0ilities that your race gets

and gets to spend points in and are uni1ue to that race5 and let you decide for yourself7 0ut we

will not do that here. %nstead what we shall do is gi$e you the list of the few races that will

work 0est for playing the Dragonknight.

There are three 0asic Skill /ines for the Dragonknight7 each ha$ing a sort of opti,al race

depending on what weapons you will choose to use.

O(S%&E( The Orc7 good for tanking7 0ut ,ost i,portantly 0etter for Two Banded users

and hea$y da,age dealers7 you will gain 0onuses to Bea$y #r,or so there will 0e no need to

use skills like Spiked #r,or7 you will also gain increased sta,ina for ,ore attacks and ,ore

da,age7 0ut also health 0onuses and reduced sprint cost7 ,aking sure no-one will easily

escape you.

DU)&E( Or the FDark Elf is hands down the 0est race for the Dragonknight7 as itfocuses on Dual 8ield 0onuses 3one of the ,ost hea$y da,age dealing specs you can go for

with this class57 as well as ha$ing increased ,agicka pools and ,agic da,age 0onuses for an

e:tra kick 7 as the Dragonknight is actually 1uite a hea$y caster.

Dragonknight7 Dual 8ield and Destruction Staff7 0ut ,ost i,portantly7 and since you cannot

!. %&'E(%#/ The %,perial is an aweso,e choice if you wish to 0e a tank. The 0onuses

are tailor-,ade for the One-Banded and Shield user.7 focusing hea$ily on Co,0at

(egeneration7 %ncreased Bealth and Sta,ina7 perfect for a front line fighter that can

take on anything.

Other (aces can work good as well7 0ut none so good as these three if you want to deal,a:i,u, da,age.

Soft Cap

The second thing you ha$e to know a0out is what e:ists in so,e other &&Os as well7 and it

is called the Soft Cap. @or those of you not fa,iliar with it7 it is si,ply this+ 8hen one of your

attri0utes reaches a certain nu,0er7 ar,or for instance7 you will not recei$e a lot of 0enefits if

you choose to in$est e$en ,ore points into said attri0ute. %nstead7 you will always 0enefit ,ore

if you in$est into a different attri0ute instead7 as the scaling 0eco,es $ery steep when the SoftCap is reached. This ,eans that7 when you reach7 lets say = ar,or7 and chose to in$est in

another ! ar,or7 that ar,or will a0sor0 less da,age that it would ha$e7 had you had

The 0est e:a,ple perhaps is a rogue placing a trap on the ground7 and a fire,age 0urning

that ground. This will cause the ene,y to 0eco,e i,,o0iliHed7 while the fire,ages spell will

8eapon Choice

The true ,erit in Fclasses7 that is to say7 who is a tank and who the healer7 is not in the

choosing of class7 0ut in weapon choice. This is an i,portant point you should realiHe fro, the

The #rdent @la,e skill tree is the DragonknightJs first skill line7 and it focuses on fire ,agicwhile de-0uffing ene,ies. #rdent @la,e is considera0ly the ,ost offensi$e of the

DragonknightJs skill trees7 and players selecting a hea$y concentration within the #rdent @la,e

sphere will e:perience hea$y offensi$e output while ,aintaining decent $ersatility within '*'

scenarios. #rdent @la,e si,ilarly retains a collection of defensi$e utility skills7 ,aking the

Dragonknight $ia0le for da,age and tank hy0rid 0uilds.

#cti$e Skills

!. Ulti,ate The DragonknightJs Ulti,ate #rdent @la,e skill is called Dragonknight

Standard. Dragonknight Standard spawns a standard on the ground7 dealing da,age to

opposition while reducing their recei$ed healing 0enefits. #dditionally7 Dragonknight Standard

creates the DragonknightJs Shackle synergy skill for surrounding playersJ utiliHation.

2. @iery (each @iery (each draws ene,ies towards the Dragonknight with a fiery line

while dealing da,age. @iery (each is incredi0ly useful for ranged classes atte,pting to kite the

Dragonknight7 though players ,ay find @iery (eachJs utility li,ited in ,elee situations.

;. Searing Strike Searing Strike applies a da,age-o$er-ti,e de-0uff to ene,ies. The de-

0uff strikes the, with repeated fire da,age. Searing Strike7 o$erall7 is the DragonknightJs

0read-and-0utter DoT7 and itJs a great gap-filler for other co,0inations.

The Draconic 'ower skill line is the DragonknightJs defensi$e approach to co,0at7 and it

utility skills and defenci$e-,a:i,iHing 0uffs7 Draconic 'ower will 0e a house fa$orite 0y ,any

players seeking tanking capa0ilities.

#cti$e Skills

!. Ulti,ate The DragonknightJs Draconic 'ower Ulti,ate skill is Dragon /eap. Dragon

/eap propels the Dragonknight through the air upon ,agical wings7 and it deals #oE da,age

upon the DragonknightJs landing area7 0ouncing ene,ies 0ackwards. Dragon /eap is an

e:cellent opener for Dragonknights7 and itJs a great kick-starter for stun-0ased '*'encounters.

2. Spike #r,or Spike #r,or increases the DragonknightJs da,age resistance while

deflecting da,age upon ,elee opponents. Spike #r,or is a ,ust-ha$e skill for Dragonknights

focusing on ,ain-role encounters.

;. Dark Talons Dark Talons contains near0y ene,ies7 and it deals da,age to ene,ies not

contained 0y Dark Talons. 8hile Dark Talons is a great spell for freeHing ,elee-0asedopponents7 it ,ay not 0e as useful when in a ,elee-$ersus-,elee situation. Bowe$er7 Dark

Talons can effecti$ely hinder a kiting-0ased opponent.

o$er-ti,e spell. Dragon lood is a great utility skill for sur$i$al7 and Dragonknights ,ay

he Earthen Beart Skill ree

The Earthen Beart Skill Tree is the DragonknightJs last skill group7 and it relies upon hea$y

group support while adding control skills $ia0le within 0oth '*E and '*' scenarios. 8here

Draconic 'ower focused on tanking and self-sur$i$a0ility7 Earthen Beart is an o$ertly

supporti$e class.

capa0le of increasing near0y alliesJ power. The DragonknightJs power is dou0ly increased7 too7

,aking &olten 8eapons a great asset for players focusing on D'S.

e:tre,ely good for tanking7 and itJs an argua0ly 0etter tank Ulti,ate than Dragon /eap

through the Draconic 'ower skill line.

The Dragonknight7 while $ersatile7 is 0uilt to supply D'S while 0eing a $ia0le tanking

character7 0ut its skill co,0inations are $aried. 'layers ,i:ing the DragonknightJs skill trees

will find additional 0enefits 0etween the classJs 0uffs7 and7 when weapons and ar,or are

added7 ,ay 0eco,e an e:tre,ely effecti$e class.

he first thing you need to understand when you 0egin to play The Elder Scrolls

Online7 is that the classes are not as strictly one-di,ensional as you ,ight e:pect.

y choosing a class7 you can still end up 0eco,ing a hy0rid7 depending on what

Skill /ine you choose and how you decide to co,0ine the,.

T%t is perhaps 0est if you consider the classes to 0e ,ore like suggestions of how you should

play7 0ut 0y no ,eans so,ething e:clusi$e or rock solid.

Of course7 this 0eing a Dragonknight guide7 we will focus on solely the Dragonknight7 yetthe word does not necessary i,ply a Tanking class #T #//7 e$en though you will pro0a0ly ha$e

the easiest ti,e 0eing a tank if you choose to play a Dragonknight.

There are three 0asic Skill /ines that you can choose fro, if you go for the Dragonknight.

Skill /ines

!. #rdent @la,e Da,age o$er Ti,e and CrowdControl Deals fire da,age o$er ti,e

and %,,o0iliHed ene,ies.The #rdent @la,e skill line is Kust one e:a,ple of how unknight-like the Dragonknight

can 0e. This skill line works 0est if you use a Destruction Staff 3link here for later when

this section is added57 which ,eans you will 0e ,ore like a caster than a sword and

shield user.

The tree focuses pri,arily on DoT da,age and direct da,age7 as well as #oE 0y using

destruction spells. et7 at the sa,e ti,e7 0y using the right spells7 one can ha$e the sa,e

a,ount of #r,or as a hea$y ar,ored player. That is of course for a set duration only.

Each of the skills in this tree di$erge into separate two which 0oost the original skill at a

specific Skill (ank. 8hat follows is a guide that will tell you what to choose when you reach

said rank.

anyway7 restoring the ,agicka ,eans the effect will 0e a0le to last longer.

This skill line focuses ,ainly on self healing and sur$i$al7 0ut if you ha$e e$ery played a

class that can heal itself through da,age done7 they you know this can7 if properly used7 0e

e:tre,ely effecti$e in 0oth '*E and '*'. )ot only can this Skill /ine gi$e you high ,o0ility and

with it a good control of the 0attlefield7 0ut also independence7 since this line also has a lot ofreflection spells. This ,eans that if you are are 0eing 0arraged 0y spells7 you will reflect the,

0ack at your opponents.

The line focuses on rooting your opponents in place as well7 which co,0ines nicely with

your Ulti,ate7 which is a kind of leap7 where you Ku,p and land in the ,idst of your

opponents7 doing #oE da,age and knocking the, down.

Dragon /eap+

8hile e:cellent for its increased da,age and radius and '$E7 it is not that great for '*'

if you do not ha$e a healer 0acking you up7 the reason is si,pleM you will 0e noticed if

you perfor, these leaps7 and so al,ost always targeted 0y s,art ,ages fro, afar. To

co,0at ,elee users7 use a spell that increased your ar,or 0efore perfor,ing this

a0ility.

The choice for anyone who does '$'7 especially for so,eone with a healer or dedicated

healer7 it will gi$e you an added 0onus to spell resistance7 which is great for leaping into

the fray.

This trend 0asically goes on through this Skill Tree and the a0o$e e:a,ple ser$es well for all

of the skills7 where the first skill ser$es as increased da,age a0ility7 while the second ser$es for

increased sur$i$al7 ,ostly for '$' 0ecause of spell resistance instead of pure physical da,age.

ou ,ight e:pect this to 0e the tanking tree7 0ut that is 0oth true and not true. ou see7 this

is again the 0eauty of Elder Scrolls Online7 0ecause true tanking is is the 8E#'O)S used7 not in

the Skill /ines the,sel$es7 as e$ery weapon co,es with its own skills. ou will already recei$e

all your great tanking a0ilities in the #r,or Trees7 so focusing on ,ore of the, in the EarthenBeart will not 0e as useful as one ,ight e:pect.

instead focus on what works 0est if you wish to 0e a tank7 or a caster7 or a hy0rid. @irst lets look

at the Tanking Skill (otation of the Dragonknight.

These two spells are contingent upon group $s solo play style. The ,ag,a shell is for

synergising with your group for ,a:i,u, da,age a0sorption.

Stonefist

!. O0sidian Shard

# 0etter choice7 since this is intended to 0e used to knock down your ene,ies and gi$e

you ti,e away fro, da,age. The increased range help with ene,ies that are running

away7 which ,akes this a good '$' a0ility.

Dun,er 3Dark Elf5 race7 the only ones with added 0onus to e:perience gain for Dual 8ielding.

!. lood CraHe is your ,ain a0ility in this setup7 the second 0eing the 0elow7 @lurry7 which

is 1uite e:pensi$e so your will need lood CraHe for when @lurry is down.2. @lurry this is your ,ain da,age a0ility and will actually put down your targets $ery fast.
