Accuracy center- Access the “Read text with prompt to train Dragon”This feature can dramatically improve dragon’s accuracy (10 minutes).

Read text with prompt:• This is the single most important

step in setting up dragon.• Immediately improves

accuracy

• You can read medical or non-medical passages to train dragon to your voice and speech patterns.

• Takes 10 minutes

Edit Your Vocabulary:

• Change Automatic Contractions

• Remove Words

• Train individual Words (not being recognized accurately)

• Add Custom Words (i.e. UNM).

Interactive tutorial - A useful, 10 minute, walk through of basic dragon functions.

The interactive tutorial will include basic dictation commands and hints.

Custom Commands Include:• Typing text and entering key strokes.

• Login Information• Adding dot phrases/frequently used text to document• Performing keyboard shortcut based commands

• Recording keyboard and mouse movement for automating repetitive tasks

In the Add New Command Editor Window

The first 3 custom command types work as follows:

1. Text and graphics: • Quickly inserts text into the document.

• Similar to a dot phrase (aka autotext)

2. Macro recorder: • Records your mouse and keyboard input.

3. Step-by-step: • Most frequently used command type. It allows

for multi-step commands consisting of typing text and keyboard strokes.

Sample Command: When I say “Dragon ROS”, dragon will automatically insert my dot-phrase for a ROS into my note without putting down the microphone.

To map your custom commands to a powermic button select “options”

Now select ”Power mic”

These buttons can be reprogrammed to whatever commands you want including your own custom commands

The “options” menu will also let you change various preferences including the “faster vs more accurate” slider to improve dictation response times or spend longer processing to increase accuracy.

Dragon pad: A basic word processing program that is built in. It has improved response times and accuracy compared to some programs. I will also open this up and dictate in information as I am scanning a chart to then insert into my note later. These documents can also be saved into word compatible formats

To transcribe a recording from a voice record, phone, or any other audiofile simply click this button. On the next screen you will have to locate the file then hit transcribe. There are a few options including which commands are recognized and where the text will go. I recommend using the recommended dictation command setting and transcribing into dragon pad to then be copied into your note.

Any digital recorder should work with dragon. Iphone record into an incompatible file format with the default voice memo application. You can either download a 3rd party app or convert the file to one that is recognized by dragon.

When you plug these in, they should appear like a flash drive on your computer. Simply select the file you want converted to text in the transcribe menu shown on the previous slide.
