Lines that are at right angles to each other
are said to be perpendicular
lines.
In the diagram below, line AB is at right angles to line XY.
The right angle is indicated by a small square. We say that AB is perpendicular to XY

Set an edge of the set square on the given line so that the other edge is just in contact with the point
Draw a line that passes through the given point with the help of the set square
