Project Aware Specialty Course

PADI’s Speciality of the month in September is Project Aware course however we are going torun this course in conjunction with our fund raising event.

The price of the course should be £75.00 however for club members we are going to do it atthe discounted price of £60.00 and donate £30.00 of the fee straight to our Project Awarefund raising.

On this course you will learn what role Project Aware take in protecting the worldwide aquaticecosystems, look at pertinent issues faced and also it will provide you with the information totake specific action to help and play your part in Project Aware.

You will learn some very interesting facts about the underwater world and the critters we loveto dive with time and time again.

You do receive a PADI PIC card for this course and it does count as a speciality towards the 5you need to be a master scuba diver.

The course is entirely classroom based with lasting around 4 hours. During which you will be

guaranteed to have lots of fun and eat some great cookies whilst learning.

Please contact Alison ASAP if you are interested and we can look at completing the courseanytime next week or on the morning of Saturday 14th August.

I have pledged to PADI Project Aware that we will raise £800.00 so this is our target to reach.Last year we raised an impressive £600.00 for the Lifeboats so come on guys I cannot do itwithout your support and I would just like to thank in advance all the people who have gotbehind this and supported us already with the sale of raffle tickets and donations.

Thank you very much..........

If anyone has any ideas how we can continue to raise money by holding events in the pool onSunday 15th August then please let me know ASAP.I was thinking of an egg and spoon relay race etc. Please contact me with your ideas.

Thanks Alison

PADI Specialty of the Month

One of the most thrilling experiences when diving is as you are descending

down the line and all you can see is the blue of the ocean, then suddenlythis large dark shape starts to emerge bellow you and before you know it theabsolute slender and majesty of the wreck emerges before your very eyes. Now you start to explore the outside of the wreck, whilst exploring you seesother divers penetrating the wreck. But as a responsible diver you and yourbuddy are going to dive your plan; carry on your dive as you planned stickingto the outside of the wreck.

After the dive and you are both safely back on board the dive boat, you startto review the dive, both of you then decide to get suitable training, so youboth can fully experience, everything a wreck dive has to offer in the future.

Don’t let this happen to you!

Now is the time to do something about it, sign up for this month’s PADIspecialty of the month the PADI wreck diver course and gain the knowledgeand training necessary to be safe and confident divers in and around wrecks. This course consists of a classroom session and four dives spread over 2 days, during which the skills and techniques covered include:-

Seals a Plenty in the FarnesWe had a great weekend, just gone diving in the Farne Islands.

Our first dive was Longstone end and we were accompanied by seals.

This was followed by Crumstone which again we had the pleasure of seals followed with a scorpion fish which was huge and lots of very biglobsters.

The second day was the best we startedwith Knife Stone and dropped into a gullyonly 3 metres deep and was surroundedby seals everywhere playing and pulling

on our fin tips.

One even hitched a ride on Dave Kidd’sback unknown to him.We then drifted onto a wreck oncethrough the gully which was superb.

Our final dive it was the reef west of StAndre. This is a great wreck with lots of plates to explore under. This dive isdefinitely one for the green force.

Lots to see all in all and the most seals Ihave ever had the pleasure to dive with.

Superb!!!!
