INDIAStudents, leaders, innovators and big

dreamers were drawn together between January and February 2011. To understand the dreams of India and create an open innovation system for generating new value. DREAM:IN grew from a project into

a venture in a little over a year.

BRAZIL2012 May-August 2012

saw ‘DREAM:IN Brasil’ take form as a project across6 Universities, culminatingin a large national conclave from 9th-11th August 2012.

DREAM:IN Project which we understand is a prototype of a bottom up development model that could help give birth to

many innovative initiatives.

DREAM:IN IS A GLOBAL NETWORK AND ORGANIZATION BASED IN BANGALORE

Aimed at understanding the aspirations and dreams of the youth.

DREAM:IN WORKS AT CREATING AN ONGROUND AND ONLINE SYSTEM WITH QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE DATA TO HELP UNDERSTAND DREAMS AND ACTS AS A SUPER INCUBATOR FOR IDEAS.

DREAM:IN provides resources and inputs to take the ideas forward as ventures.

PROFESSOR RAMNATH NARAYANA SWAMYIIM, Bangalore

DREAM:IN is an audacious project that was long overdue in this country. It seeks to unbundle the creative energies of the

Indian people in a manner that has not been attempted before. This single fact alone accounts for its uniqueness.

What India needs today is for the change makers across diverse fields to come together and to address the issues that India faces.

is a portal which is a design system, an imagination network and a technology product

which will enable the youth to dream, believe and realize.

THE NEXT GEN PROJECT ISA SUPER INCUBATOR THATSEEKS AND SELECTS ENTERPRISE IDEAS AND SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES FROM YOUTH BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 TO 30.

DREAM:IN Next Gen is a global initiative to

transform youth from being mere consumers

of income and employment to become active

creators of wealth and employment. It hopes

to create a cycle which seeds, nurtures and

harvests dreams into ideas that create socio-

economic value.

CARLOS TEIXEIRAThe New School of Design, New York

DREAM:IN will be a global initiative, to leverage global talent for local needs

THE NEXT GENERATION

SRIVATSA KRISHNAIAS, Govt. of India

Indian bureaucratic system - 'babus', who did dream extraordinary dreams and made a mighty impact on millions.

It is projected that by 2015,

there will be 3 Billion people in

the world under the age of 25,

of which India will account for

approximately 700 Million.

Unemployed youth make up almost half of

today’s unemployed population and will

face bleak economic opportunity due to the

fact that 100 million jobs need to be created

just to absorb the large work force.

The next generation outperforms the previous generation in

sports, gaming, academics etc but still is dependent on the

prevailing socio-economic conditions for employment. To

tackle this, why not learn and engage with social networks,

internet, TV to inspire, coach, support, invest and nurture

youth to create a new socio-economic value.

CLAUDIA DAVISVivarta, Brazil

DREAM:IN is a way to invert the pyramid, away from the minority on top that points out what has to be done and what is

‘truth’ and listening to ordinary people who also have a voice.

Despite the acceptance that

entrepreneurship is a powerful

tool of job creation, empowerment

and economic dynamism, there

has never been an attempt to look

at youth entrepreneurship

A survey by Barclays Bank

(1997) found that Youth

entrepreneurship costs

around 5000 Euros as opposed

to 11000 Euros for adults.

Rate of self employment

is much higher when

compared to adults in

developing countries.

It is predicted that there

will be a peak in the youth

population by 2035, thus

creating a youth

demographic bulge

As we move towards

creative economy from

knowledge economy, talent

and initiative will be the

new backbone of economic

development.

The youth has a natural

tendency towards

innovation and change

which needs to be seized

and capitalized.

I woke up this morning with this buzzing around in my head, Dreams come from people’s feat, not their words.

Words were invented by the devil to drown the dreams that connect people to God.

There is an increase in the

human capital creation as

almost 9.84 million enrollments

at the graduate level and

beyond have taken place.

There are roughly around

14 million young university

graduates, with 7 years or

lesser years of experience.

There are approximately

35000 engineering

graduates per year and

there will be as many as

1.4 million by 2015.

Indians make up

14% of the 3.1 million

foreign born Science

and Engineering

graduates in the US

The DREAM:IN experience had for me several impacting meanings: Ratio between amplitude and speed – hundreds of “dreams” gathered in a short span of time, generated new perspectives and visionary projects as well as concrete action plans and bankable realizations – a demonstration of design thinking power (and Idiom capabilities!)
