governments have given the Federal Court the resources it needs to keep up with its growing workload. A decision a decade ago to expand the court’s complement from 20 full-time judges to 33 was “pivotal,” he said, though no funding has ever been provided for two of those positions.

That has allowed the Federal Court to provide access to justice in a timely way, Lutfy said. “You don’t wait for a year or two to go before the judge for a two-hour application for judicial review. That was the case. To the best of my knowledge, that isn’t the case in more recent years. We’re basically an up-to-date court.”

Though the Federal Court has an arms-length relationship with the government, Lutfy said the court engages in a “totally appropriate dialogue” with federal officials to review the court’s administrative needs. One result has been a computerized system that provides information about the court’s past, current and projected future workload.

“How can they agree with the court’s request for more judges in a responsible way, in an accountable way, without knowing what our inventory is?” Lutfy said. “There’s no question in my mind that this is the way the court had to go, and so far I think the outcome has been good.”

WHAT IS A WILL?

MAKING A WILL

A will is the declaration by a person of his wishes or intentions regarding the disposition of his property after death, duly made and executed.

A Will therefore helps protect the people you care about. It spells out your wishes so that your family members do not have to make decisions they feel uncom-fortable with. It will save them the added grief when they need it least.

If you die without leaving a will, the laws of the country will determine what happens to your property after death. The process is lengthy, time consuming, and your relatives may never get what they need

Ÿ Return only urgent e-mails on the PDA. Respond to other e-mails from your computer.

Ÿ Use key shortcuts (cut, paste, etc.) and abbreviations. Enter all contact info on the com-puter, and synchronize the devices to transfer the data to the PDA.

Ÿ Monitor the time spent on the phone or PDA.

Ÿ Avoid, or at least minimize, using word processing and spreadsheet programs on your PDA.

Ÿ Take breaks to stretch and shake out the hands.

Ÿ Turn the PDA off when possible! If it is on all the time, its more likely to be overused.

“Our bodies are made to move not to maintain the same stooped-over posture for long periods of time. Be aware of the risks involved with excessive use of PDAs or cell phones.

”Ÿ Minimize the time you bend the

elbows to hold the PDA screen up to see it. Instead of returning all your e-mails on the phone, wait until you can use the computer.

Ÿ Avoid leaning on the flexed elbow while talking on the phone or in the car.

Our thumbs are not made to quickly and forcefully press the small keys on cell phones to text and input data. Use the following tips to minimize the risk of injury:

Ÿ Alternate among using your thumb, index finger, and a stylus, if available. If your only choice is a stylus, change how you hold it. Switch between holding it like a pen and holding it between the index and middle fingers.

Ÿ Several multi-tip pens are available at office supply stores that enable you to switch between pen and stylus tips. This is a good option, as the barrel of the pen is thicker than a standard stylus and requires less force on the joints and muscles.

Minimize the use of scroll wheels as they often cause inflammation of thumb tendons. As technology progresses, there will likely be more tasks we can complete on our phones. While this is convenient, remember to take breaks and think about the effects on your body.

Like a Sore Thumb

Dr. George Traitses,

As the weather changes coats and the warm summer sun takes on a steely winter hue, nothing seems quite as inviting as a hot, comforting drink.

Unfortunately, those rich drinks often come with a dose of sugar and calories that your body doesn’t need.

For instance, take a medium-s ized cup of specialty mocha. With its whipped topp ing and chocolate curls, this fla-voured drink will set you back 400 calories – the same amount as a meal. Tea , on the other hand, has a zero count.

Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to warm yourself up without loading up on sugar and unnecessary calories.

ŸChoose water as often as possible. Water helps move nutrients and waste through the body, regulate body temperature and blood pressure, and protect and cushion joints and organs.

ŸInstead of fatty specialty coffee

Here are some tips to keep you warm and healthy this November:

specialty coffee drink, ask for less sweetener and syrup, as well as non-fat milk or soy beverage to be used instead of whole milk.

ŸIf you prefer creamier beverages, try tea latte with non-fat milk or soy beverage.

ŸAvoid whipped topping on specialty beverages—it signifi-cantly increases the fat and caloric content of the beverage.

ŸWhen ordering a complementing hot beverage at a restaurant, opt out for a cup of hot water with a lemon wedge or steamed non fat milk. It will warm you up, without filling you up with sugar.beverages, choose flavoured tea to

THE MISSION

The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency. By a continuing process of inflation, governments can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.

John Maynard Keynes

Bottom line is, I didn't return to Apple to make a fortune. I've been very lucky in my life and already have one. When I was 25, my net worth was $100 million or so. I decided then that I wasn't going to let it ruin my life. There's no way you could ever spend it all, and I don't view wealth as something that validates my intelligence.

Steve Jobs

He is richest who is content with the least, for content is the wealth of nature.

TORONTO, November 16, 2011 -- Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 3,379 transactions through the TorontoMLS® during the first two weeks of November. This result represented more than a 13 per cent increase compared to November 2010. New listings were up 16 per cent over the same period.

“The results for the first two weeks of November point to two important facts: First, despite global economic uncertainty, buyers have remained confident in the affordable housing market in the GTA. Second, stronger growth in new listings means that it is becoming easier for buyers to find a home that meets their needs,” said Toronto Real Estate Board President Richard Silver.

The average selling price through the first 14 days of November was $481,548 – up by 10 per cent compared to the average of $437,510 reported for the first two weeks of November 2010.

“Little or no movement is expected for mortgage rates through 2012. Low rates coupled with the consensus outlook for continued economic growth next year suggests that homes will remain affordable in the GTA and households will remain confident in doing deals. Look for the average selling price to advance to the $485,000 mark next year,” said Jason Mercer, the Toronto Real Estate Board’s Senior Manager of Market Analysis.

GTA Real Estate Market Watch EDITORIAL“I see nothing in the present situation

that is either menacing or warrants pessimism…I have every confidence that there will be a revival of activity in the spring, and that during the coming year, the country will make steady progress.” That's what William Mellon, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, had to say on December 31, 1929. But you know that it took several years to recover.

Today, the economies of the U.S. and several European nations totter on default. The governments of the U.S. and the Europeans have been spending far more than they can tax or borrow.

Those governments will inevitably take the least painful route out of their problems. That is using the printing presses to repay their debts. So sooner or later, inflation will be a problem.

However, for the last several weeks, stock and bond markets worldwide have been in upheaval. Panic has gripped the markets as investors run for the exits. As the markets continue to go down, even seasoned investors find themselves asking how much pain they are willing to take. What should you do?

You can sell all or part of your holdings and can keep it as cash or you can maintain your current holdings. The moment you sell, you lose the chances of recovery. No one precisely knows when the recovery will take place.

You can invest in other assets like real estate or gold. But concerns of bubble and fall in prices are also in the air. Traditionally, real estate and gold have been hedge against inflation. Yet we witnessed the housing bubble in the US and fall in gold prices decades ago.

Well, what is your advice, you may ask.

Know thyself. Watch the markets. Keep your emotions aside. Take rational decisions.

Your decision, whatever it may be, should be based on two things. The first is your time-frame. The second is your emotional ability.

We mean the time available for investments. For example, if the purpose of saving is retirement, your time frame is till your retirement date.

If you expect to work for many more years before you retire, you may be able to take more risk with your investments than someone who expects to retire very soon. The reason: You will have a long time to recover any investment losses that may occur. With only a few years remaining before your retirement date, preserving your retirement savings may take on added importance.

It is your ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of yourself. How comfortable are you, when the value really goes down? You may say that you are comfortable but in reality, you may not be. Investing without knowing your risk profile and comfort level is dangerous.

Many times in real life, undo buttons are unavailable. Think before you act.

What does time frame mean?

What is emotional ability?

Good luck.

Put option = Option to sell (selling or not is your option; for that you pay a premium.)You will exercise your option, if it is advantageous to you only

Writing an option is different than buying an option in that you're collecting premium instead of purchasing it.

A typical Call Option quote on the stock XYZ, which has a current stock market price of $50:

Reading from top to bottom: This quote is for a CALL OPTION on the security XYZ. The option contract EXPIRES IN APRIL. The STRIKE PRICE of $55 is what the option holder can purchase the shares of XYZ for anytime up until the 3rd Friday of April. To purchase the ability to do this would cost the option holder $2.50 per contract per share.

(People will exercise their “option” and purchase shares of XYZ for $55,only when it trades for $55 or more in the open market)

When the value of the underlying stock starts trading ABOVE the Strike Price, the option contract is said to be “IN-THE-MONEY”. When the stock price is equal to the strike price, it is “AT-THE-MONEY”. And finally, when the stock price is BELOW the strike price – the option is “OUT-OF-THE-MONEY”.

You plan to be rich and powerful.

You plan to be acclaimed and successful.

You plan to conquer the universe.

You plan to fall in love - and be loved forever.

You don't plan to be sad.

You don't plan to be hurt.

You don't plan to be broke.

You don't plan to be betrayed.

You don't plan to be alone in this world.

You plan to be happy. You don't plan to be shattered.

Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want.

But MOST times, what you want and what you get are two different things.

We, mortals, plan. But so does God in the heavens.

Sometimes, it is difficult to understand God's plans especially when His plans are not in consonance with ours.

Often, when God sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger. True, we cannot choose the cross that God wishes us to carry, but we can carry that cross with

courage knowing that God will never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with.

Sometimes, God breaks our spirit to save our soul.

Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.

Sometimes, God allows pain so we can be stronger.

Sometimes, God sends us failure so we can be humble.

Sometimes, God allows illness so we can take better care of ourselves. Sometimes, God takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of

everything He gave us.

Make plans, but understand that we live by God's grace.
