Dress for the weather.

When you consider that a shovelful of snow weighs 5 to 7 pounds, you realize how much weight you have to lift to clear your sidewalk or driveway — on average, several hundred pounds! These tips will help keep your back in top shape:

If the weather report calls for several days of snow, frequent shoveling will allow you to move smaller amounts of snow at once.

Use a l igh tweight pusher type shovel. If you are using a metal shovel, spray it with Teflon first, so snow won't stick to it.

Always push the snow to the side rather than throwing it. That way you a v o i d l i f t i n g h e a v y shovelfuls of snow, and sudden twisting or turning movements.

If you find you have to lift a shovelful of snow, use your knees and your leg and arm muscles to do the pushing and lifting, while

keeping your back straight.

Before tackling any strenuous activity take the time to warm up with some overall conditioning (a 10- to 15-minute walk, even on the spot, should do it), followed by some simple stretching.

The first story is aboutconnecting the dots

Study after study reveals that number one concern of Canadians is “How to save while paying debts?” Our advice to you is pay off your expensive debts first. Pay off as quickly as you can. The value of interest saved from paying off debts is often more valuable than the interest or return earned on your savings or investments. Remember return from the investment is often not guaranteed. If it is guaranteed, it may not be attractive. Advice given here is more suited to low and medium income earners. If you are in the high tax bracket, you may need to take taxation in to account.

In our opinion, savings is only a secondary goal. Learning to live within the means is a primary goal. For many problems, forgetting this simple principle of life is the cause. When the primary goal is achieved, effortlessly secondary goal will be achieved. Make budgeting part of your life.

Tracking your expenses is a good habit. Not only it increases your memory, it also helps you to identify and cut wasteful or discretionary expenses.

Credit cards and store cards are the most expensive (or dangerous) debts. Pay the credit card in full every month. Credit card is not an ATM machine. If you're a person, who concurs with the primary and secondary goals mentioned here, you won't even think of store cards. Buying goods on long term credit from stores is often expensive even than the most expensive credit cards. Be watchful of yourself. Your attitude!

When you think of saving or investment, follow one simple rule: Don't invest in anything that you don't understand. That is one of the principles many great billionaires follow.

Like a company or a business organization, know your assets and liabilities every month. The difference between your assets and liabilities is your net worth. It should grow month after month. Be watchful. Whether you become rich or not, you will lead relatively a happy and peaceful financial life, when you do this exercise every month.

If money is not a problem, then many things may not be a problem in life. Good times or bad times, learn to manage money; learn to manage your life. It's time to take charge. Good luck.

BEDSIDE MANNERSSusie's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months.

Things looked grim, but she was by his bedside every single day. One day as he slipped back into consciousness, he motioned for her to come close to him. She pulled the chair close to the bed and leaned her ear close to be able to hear him.

"You know" he whispered, his eyes filling with tears, "you have been with me through all the bad times. When I got fired, you stuck right beside me. When my business went under, there you were. When we lost the house, you were there. When I got shot, you stuck with me. When my health started failing, you were still by my side. "And you know what?"

"What, dear?" she asked gently, smiling to herself.

Market outlook

Stocks generally surged based on the raising optimism on Europe. Economically sensitive stocks stand to benefit from a rebound in economic activity more so than their defensive counterparts. Energy stocks lead the way with a gain of 28 per cent. Other sectors that have performed better: consumer discretionary stocks, materials, financials, industrials and technology. The moves coincide to a large degree with the start of earnings season. In China, preliminary data on manu-facturing activity in October rose to 51.1, putting the indicator in positive territory for the first time in four months. Any reading above 50 denotes expansion
