TO MAKE THE POMPOM HAT

1. Put your hat over the top of a bottle. Use red fabric or acrylic paint to paint a red stripe right round the bottom of your hat. Leave to dry somewhere warm, e.g. near a radiator.

2. Print out the downloadable hair template for either Wally or Wenda. Place it on the brown paper and use it as a guide to cut out the ‘hair’. Stick the hair to the inside of your hat with double-sided tape.

3. To make the pompom, screw up a piece of red tissue paper and glue on top of your hat.

TO MAKE THE STRIPED TOP

1. Fit the top over a piece of cardboard so it is quite flat. Add evenly-spaced strips of masking tape across the top. Keep doing this until you have masking tape stripes all the way around.

3. When the paint is dry, pull off the tape carefully. Hurrah! You have a striped top! Follow the instructions on the fabric paint to ‘fix’ the colours.

2. Now paint on the areas that are not masked out with the tape. Leave to dry somewhere warm then repeat on the back of the top.

•If you make the masking

tape wider than the top

you will know where to put

it on the back of the top.

TO MAKE THE WALKING STICK

1. Print out the walking stick template. Cut round the two curved pieces. Place them on the card, then draw round and cut out both pieces.

2. Paint the cardboard tube and both curved pieces of the stick brown on both sides.

3. When the paint has dried, tape the curved pieces to the top of the tube. Add some tape to the bottom of the tube too, and there you have it—a perfect Where’s Wally? walking stick!

TO MAKE THE GLASSES

1. Print the downloadable glasses templates and cut out the pieces for either pair. Place the pieces on the black card, draw round and cut them out.

2. Use sticky tape to attach the arms to the frames.

TO MAKE THE BINOCULARS

1. Paint the rolls blue. When they are dry use a black marker to draw borders around both ends of the rolls.

2. Use glue or double-sided tape to fix the two cardboard rolls side-by-side.

3. Attach some ribbon inside both sides of the binoculars. Make sure it is long enough to fit around your neck comfortably.

OUTFIT

TIPS• As Wally sends postcards, it would be

fun to make a giant postcard or have

some postcards to write on and give out!

• Just add jeans and shoes for Wally or a denim

skirt and striped socks or tights for Wenda (you

can paint stripes on white socks when you

make your top).
