Lyndon B. Johnson

Johnson’s “Great Society” and the idealism of the early 1960s was quickly turned sour when Johnson became more involved with Vietnam. He continued to send planes for bombing runs and ships.

The United States engaged North Vietnam forces twice on August 2nd and 4th, though the incident on August 4th may never have happened.
