Stay Safe and drive Sober to Spread the holiday Cheer!
Consider these Holiday tips to stay safe:• A sober driver is the way to go; so, plan ahead by finding a safe way home before the festivities begin• If you’re impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation• If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, call local law enforcement
Be the ‘Hostess with Mostess’ All Year Long! • Offer your favorite non-alcoholic beverage from the Zero- Proof Mix-Off as an option for guests• Plan activities like party games or door prize drawings to keep guests engaged in things other than drinking alcohol• Help guests to coordinate safe rides home before the party starts• If a guest appears to be drinking too much, Offer to freshen their drink up with a non-alcoholic version of what they have been drinking• Close the bar at least 90 minutes before the party ends & offer a great dessert treat & non-alcoholic beverage
Alcohol Free Party ideas! • Host your own Zero-Proof Mix-Off by asking guests to create non-alcoholic drink recipes as a part of a competition• Try a white Elephant Gift Exchange to keep guests engaged in a non-alcoholic activity• Have guests dress up in a stylish theme to make the party unique and fun • Make an exciting holiday menu that will be the talk of the party
As a party guest, YOU can be part of the solution too!
3 Drinking at a party is not mandatory to have a good time, so avoid pressuring others to do so3 Volunteer to be a designated driver—your friends & family will be thankful3 If you see someone who is about to drive impaired, take their keys and help them make safe arrangements
In 2013, 70% of fatal crashes on Lorain County roads involved alcohol. These deaths could have been prevented simply by having a designated sober driver. 1
Sources:1. Lorain County Fatality Review Committee Data2. National Highway Traffic Safety Association
Drunk driving fatalities occur all year round, but the holiday season is a particularly dan-gerous time on the roadways. In 2011, 760 people in the United States lost their lives as a result of drunk-driving-related crashes during the month of December alone. 2
