DRIVER LICENSE & ID CARD SERVICES FOR US CITIZENS
DRIVER LICENSE OR ID CARD FACTS:
• Hospital birth certificates are not acceptable
• Church marriage certificates are not acceptable
• Florida does not reciprocate REAL ID requirementsfrom out of state
• Birth Certificates from Puerto Rico must be issuedafter July 1, 2010
• All Commercial Driver License holders must self-certify in one of four categories as to how theyoperate a vehicle and submit a valid medical card, ifrequired, for every issuance
• Disabled Veterans must present card or letterfrom Veteran’s Administration stating 100% totaland permanent disability to receive a discountedlicense or ID
• To receive the Veteran designation you must bean honorably discharged US Veteran and providea copy of your DD-214 or retired military ID card(DD Form 2) or other approved document
• Renewal available up to 18 months before expiration
• Issuance of a Florida driver license or ID cardcancels any previous out of state credential
• Basic vision acuity testing required for each originalor renewal driver license issuance
In Person: Cash, check, money order, debit card, and all major credit cards.
A convenience fee is charged when using a credit or debit card and is subject to the service provider rates which may vary. No portion of this fee is retained by the Tax Collector’s office.

• Traffic Law Substance Abuse Education course successful completion (may be reciprocated with out of state or country driver license)
• Road Signs and General Knowledge testing successful completion (may be reciprocated with out of state or country driver license)
* Written testing available up to 3:30 p.m. at each office location
• Parental Consent (under 18 only)
Upgrading from Learner License to Class E will require successful completion of Road Skills testing
Road Skills testing available at the North Fort Myers and South Fort Myers Office locations by appointment only

Provide proof of name change AND social security card updating – Bring ONE from each section (photocopies are not acceptable)
