The Sons of Scotland Pipe Band from Ottawa Canadahad the great honour this past August to visit Scotland toperform at a number of events including the World Pipe

Band Championships at Blair Atholl and Stirling Castlesas Canadian representatives in the Royal Scottish PipeBand Association Pre-Worlds Parade through Glasgowand in their Edinburgh day which included a show atEdinburgh Castle the Palace of Holyroodhouse ndash thehome of Her Majesty The Queen when shersquos inEdinburgh

They also played in a parade with their friends in theCaledonian Brewery Pipe Band in support of the RoyalBlind Charity

But truly a highlight for the band their many step andhighland dancers and guests was the trip to BalmoralCastle on August 19 to perform for Her Majesty TheQueen the Duke of Edinburgh and the Earl andCountess of Wessex and their children

The sun came out as the band played a concert in theback garden and after the performance the Royal familygreeted the guests and then met with the performers inthe cottage on the grounds for a reception The Queenasked after all the Canadian bands and was pleased tohear what a great number of pipe bands had travelledover from the Ottawa region
