There are databases you can subscribe to receive alerts or to look for forthcoming

events:

Conferencealerts.com

Allconferences.com

However they are often full of initiatives not actually relevant for your specific topic, maybe

not reporting the best ones

Another option can be looking for conferences linked to a journal or an academy/society that

are relevant for your topic

American Marketing AssociationJournal of Marketing

Journal of Marketing ResearchJournal of international Marketing

Journal of Consumer Psychology

Strategic Management Journal

Society of Consumer Psychology

Strategic Management Society

Another option is to ask about conferences to members of your division (supervisor, other

academics, older colleagues)

Remember: your research can be related to more than one discipline. This being “on the

fence” increases the number of possible good conferences you can apply to.

Also, if your topic is very relevant for practitioners (or you need to network with

them) you might consider a business convention rather than an academic

conference (but be aware of the limitations this might bring with itself)

A couple of tips:

1.Consider the possibility of presenting your research to doctoral colloquium sessions. Many conferences provide

this session before the actual starting date and they often offer bursaries to attend the main conference as

well.

2. Pick your conference also on the basis of the location. Remember: networking is a

funny activity as well!
