Circuit/System DescriptionThe clutch pedalposition(CPP) sensor is a three wire sensor, connectedto a 5 V reference circuit, a low reference circuit, and a signal circuit. The engine control module (ECM) supplies 5 V to the CPP sensor, and also provides a sensor ground path onthe lowreference circuit. The CPP sensor sends a voltage signal to the ECM onthe signalcircuit. The voltage onthe signalcircuit will vary from a voltage less than or equal to 5 V when the clutch pedal is released, to a voltage less than or equal to 1.5 V when the clutch pedal is applied.Conditions for Running the DTCDTC P0641 is not set.
The system voltage is more than 9 V.
The ignition is in the RUNposition.
Conditions for Setting the DTCP0830The CPP sensor is stuck inrange.
Action Taken When the DTC SetsDTC P0830 is a Type A DTC.Conditions for Clearing the DTCDTC P0830 is a Type A DTC.Reference Information

DTC Type ReferencePowertrain Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Type Definitions
Scan Tool ReferenceEngine Control Module Scan Tool InformationCircuit/System Verification1.If DTC P0641 is set, refer toDiagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle.
2.Ignition ON, observe the scan tool CPP Sensor percentparameter. Thepercentageshould vary from 0% when the clutch pedal is released, to 100% when the clutch pedal is in the applyposition.
3.Perform the CPP learn procedure. Refer toClutch Pedal Position Sensor Learn.
4.Operate thevehiclewithin the conditions for running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset.
Circuit/System Testing1.Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector of the B25B Clutch PedalPositionSensor.
2.Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 betweenthe lowreference circuit terminal A and ground.
If greater than the specified value, testthe lowreference circuit for an open/high resistance. Ifthe circuittests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
3.Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5V reference circuit terminal C and ground.
If less than the specifiedrange, test the 5V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. Ifthe circuittests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
If greater than the specifiedrange, test the 5V reference circuit for a short to voltage. Ifthe circuittests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
4.Ignition ON, observe the scan tool CPP sensor voltageparameterfor less than 0.1 V.
If greater than the specified value, testthe signalcircuit for a short to voltage. Ifthe circuittest normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
5.Install a 3 A fused jumper wire betweenthe signalcircuit terminal B and the 5V reference circuit terminal C. Verify that the scan tool CPP sensorparameteris between 4.8-5.2 V.
If not within the specifiedrange, testthe signalcircuit for or a short to ground or an open/high resistance. Ifthe circuittests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
6.If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B25B Clutch PedalPositionSensor.
Component TestingStatic Test1.Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector of the B25B Clutch PedalPositionSensor.
2.Measure the resistance betweenthe signalterminal B andthe lowreference terminal A of the B25B Clutch PedalPositionSensor. Depress the clutch pedal through the entirerange. The resistance should vary from high to low and vice versa without any spikes or dropouts.
If the resistance is erratic with spikes or dropouts, replace the B25B Clutch PedalPositionSensor.
Repair InstructionsPerform theDiagnostic Repair Verificationafter completing thediagnosticprocedure.
