Determining Demand Requirements to meet Business Needs

• Historic trends are the basis for our retirement projections. Historic trends are impacted by:
• The economic crisis• Union contract years• Significant changes in industry
• Actual 2008 DTE Energy data showed 50% fewer retirements than historic
• Early 2009 attrition modeling predicted a significant reduction in near-term retirements
– Scenario 1: Retirement postponement for two years with three year recovery
– Scenario 2: Larger retirement slow down, extending more than 5 years
• Actual 2009 DTE Energy retirements are tracking close to Scenario 1• The economic crisis has impacted
