The Constitution declares that Islam is the official religion of all seven of the constituent emirates of the federal union.

Islam is a monotheistic, Abrahamic religion based on the teachings of the Quran, a religious book considered by its adherents to be the verbatim word of God

Islam is the predominant religion in much of Africa, the Middle East, as well as in major parts of Asia. Large communities are also found in China, Russia and the Balkans.

It is estimated that there are currently between one thousand and eight hundred thousand million Muslims in the world (and growing).

In Islam every member of society has a set of rights and duties that every human being who accepts this religion it is required to guide their lives according to these rules.

In general, the law of Islam imposes four kinds of rights and duties in the man:

1- Duties towards God.

2.The duties of man towards himself.

3.The rights of others with him.

Many of the foreigners are of Hindu confession, Sikh and Christian.

Christian religion:

The Christianity is a monotheistic religion of Jewish origin that is based on Jesus' recognition of Nazareth as his founder and central figure. His followers believe that Jesus is the son of God, as well as the Messiah.

Hinduism religion:

The Hinduism accepts the sacred texts Vedas, that includes great quantity of ancient texts.

The Hinduism symbol is the syllable om, and Aum in English calligraphy

The Sikhism consists of the

belief of an only God and

of the educations of ten gurus of the Sikhism ,

withdrawals of the sacred book of the

Sikh .It combines the strict

monotheism with Hindu traditions.

However, visitors are expected to respect Islam following certain rules:

 Dubai is one of the most liberal places in the Middle East and followers of other religions are tolerated.

Don’t walk in front of somebody when they are praying.

Don’t drink alcohol in the street or in public places.

Avoid passionate displays of affection in public.

Women should save their beachwear for the beach.

Women are obligated to wear the burka, and according to Allah it must be wore at all

time.

Allah expresses equality between men and women: same rights and duties but

the reality they live is totally different.

Women Are forbidden to:

- Drive a car- Walk in the neighborhoods - Go to the bazaar and sit in the stores- Meet in a group in public- Repudiate their husbands without explaining

while the men doesn’t have to.- Lack of personal and social independence

After their first menses they are

considered grown women which

means they must find a husband.

This could be at the age of nine

Men

• The male supremacy is determined by the law.

• Allowed to have four wives or concubines.

• Must support his wife or wives and give them equitably.

• Can hit or punish his wives if they are not obedient .
