Today I am delighted to officially invite you to the 2018 Security Printers, International Conference and Exhibition which will be held in Dublin, Ireland on 21-23 March 2018.
From a small gathering of security printing professionals four decades ago, Security Printers has grown into a unique platform of its own. Every 18 months, delegates from no less than 350 institutions worldwide attend. Over 850 of you came to Seville last year, travelling from central banks, governments and identity document issuing authorities as well as security printing companies.
A sophisticated, select audience with years of experience in banknotes and identity documents is what you have come to expect. It has made Security Printers what it is – what it has always been about: a neutral and independent space of dialogue and interaction. One where knowledge is, beyond a shared experience, an encounter.
This Dublin edition will again bring a chance to meet all the leading industry stakeholders under one roof. With over 100 booths, the exhibition floor will be the place to explore the latest developments in both banknote and identity technology, and to find the right solutions to your challenges.
Thought leaders from government and central banks, decision makers and technological innovators will deliver hours of learning, packed in 10 moderated and interactive sessions that will address the issues you face in your profession and business in today’s fast-changing world.
They will talk openly and honestly about a range of issues including authentication, procurement and counterfeiting, presenting best practices and sharing approaches, what worked, what didn’t, and lessons learned.
Not to be missed, keynote speaker Dr Mary Aiken, the real-life cyberpsychologist and Dubliner behind the series CSI: Cyber, will open your eyes to the psychology of cybercriminals, and explain how evolving techniques impact digital payment transactions and identity records, and what you can do about it.
For some of you, it will be an opportunity to renew acquaintances and collaborations. For others, an occasion to expand your reach and join the global security printing community. Either way, the networking that will ensue will no doubt be of significant value as you return to the office and beyond.
It will be a real pleasure to welcome you to Dublin, a city rich in history and culture, yet resolutely anchored in the future.

Links Golf Experience08.15 to 16.30 hrs48 participants maximumEUR 250/person – Fee includes golf, lunch and transportation
If golf is your game, this is your opportunity to tee off on one of the top links courses in the world, the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links to the north of Dublin. An occasion you are unlikely to forget! Created on land that was once home to the Jameson distilling family’s 9-hole golf course, the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links has been receiving accolades from top golfers and golf journalists alike since it opened in 1995.
The course, designed by two-time Masters champion Bernhard Langer, sits on the shoreline of a rugged coastline and makes full use of the dunes and natural terrain to provide a layout that will please the most ardent of links purists. The elevated tees and greens, blind approaches and doglegs – not to mention typical links sea breezes – will keep you thinking through every round. Gently undulating luxuriously sprung fairways leading to large fast greens must be negotiated through 98 strategically placed bunkers, whilst hillocks, wild grasses and gorse await wayward shots.
More than a round of golf, playing at Portmarnock is about experiencing the outstanding beauty of Ireland’s spectacular links courses. And then real local hospitality in the clubhouse.
A truly unique golfing adventure.
Make the most of your days in Dublin and take the time to experience Ireland at its best – choose between the two post-conference tour options and book early as places are limited.

Malahide and North Coast Tour09.30 to 16.30 hrs50 participants maximumEUR 130/person – Fee includes entrance to attractions, lunch and transportation
Just nine miles to the north of Dublin, the charming coastal village of Malahide retains a truly traditional Irish feel. Its castle, built on a small rise that commands an impressive view of Dublin Bay, is one of Ireland’s oldest. It dates back to 1185 when Henry II presented Richard Talbot with the lands and harbour of Malahide for his loyal services as a knight.
Malahide Castle remained in the Talbot family for nearly eight centuries, until it was sold to the Irish state in 1975. Its reception rooms, decked with beautiful period furniture, are home to a unique collection of paintings from the National Gallery of Ireland. On the grounds, over 260 acres of magnificent gardens planted with an abundance of flora and trees as old as 400 years await exploration.
Farther along the coast, the small fishing village of Howth juts out into the Irish sea. Walk along its sandy beach, taking in spectacular views of the Howth Head peninsula, and stroll along the pier to sample some of Ireland’s tasty seafood, topped by classic Irish coffee in one of Howth's most iconic pubs.

An inspiring citySteeped in tradition and yet utterly modern, Dublin has grown into one of Europe’s most vibrant and thriving cities. Founded in 988, it exhibits a unique blend of architectural styles, from early Viking settlements and Norman castles to Georgian townhouses and slick, glass and steel skyscrapers. On both sides of the river Liffey, homes of literary icons like Oscar Wilde, William Butler Yeats and Samuel Beckett stand against a backdrop of historical sites ranging from Dublin Castle to the Victorian flower beds of St. Stephen’s Green Park. A buzzing hub of metropolitan activity, Dublin is also home to no less than half of the world’s top-50 banks. Hundreds of international tech companies and innovative start-ups have operations there. For a few days, it will be where the world talks security printing.
Getting to Dublin has never been easier and cheaper. Low cost as well as traditional international carriers fly in from over 170 destinations worldwide. The city centre and the Convention Centre Dublin (CDD) are just a short bus or taxi ride away. A 20- to 30-minute journey that can be cut in half by asking the driver to use the Dublin Port Tunnel (extra toll charge applies).
Getting around Dublin is just as simple. An extensive public bus network complete underground metro and overground rail options. And taxis are readily available. More information on www.securityprinters.org

“ Security Printers is one of the world’s leading venues for the international collaboration of knowledge and advancement in cutting-edge document security technologies.”Troy Eberhardt, Homeland Security Investigations Forensic Laboratory, United States of America
“ The topics are really interesting. They are not marketing, they are actually topics that we are all interested in. That makes it different from other conferences I have been to. ”
Michele Bullock, Reserve Bank of Australia, Australia
“ A very good conference where a lot of people from around the world keep coming, professionals in ID documents and banknotes. For us, this is the right type of attendance: these are either our direct customers or people that can recommend our products. ”
