Assembly—Room 10 Last week Room 10 performed the play George’s Marvellous Medicine at their assembly. They had read the book as a class and loved it so much they wanted to share it with the school. The play was complete with a magic medicine, a mischievous George, a cranky grandma and a giant chicken.

Does my child need to get to school on time?

YES - Children need to settle in and get prepared for the day. When they are late they miss out on valuable learning time.

Glory Cup

On the 22nd of July the Dudley Park soccer team went to compete in the Glory Cup soccer competition at Lark Hill Sporting Complex, just north of Secret Harbour. The competition had four other teams we had to play against, with the top two teams qualifying for the state grand final on Friday 29th July in Cockburn.

The team had trained hard for a couple of weeks prior to the competition and were ready and confident to progress in the tournament. Each game consisted of two 15 minute halves on a full sized soccer pitch.

Our first game was against South Coast Baptist from Bunbury, where the team tried really hard and lost 2-0, but played some good soccer to give them encouragement for their remaining fixtures. In the second game, the team played Rockingham Lakes A and were really switched on from the start. They played an excellent brand of soccer winning 5-1 leaving the team with one win and one loss with a must win game coming up.

The third game of the competition was against Mandurah Baptist College who were just above us on the ladder, and the winner of this game would progress to next week’s state competition. Dudley Park scored in the first minute of the game and had the better of the first half, apart from conceding a late penalty, which was missed. We again scored early in the second half, but they hit back with a goal of their own, setting up a tense finish between the two sides. Dudley Park managed to hold on, winning 2-1. The last game of the competition against Rockingham Lakes, Dudley Park won easily. This placed them second for the tournament, a fantastic result for the children, and the school. A special mention to Kane and Taj Mutton who were excellent with their skills all day, and Waylon Bennell, who won Player of the Competition. Each child who participated was presented with a silver medal for finishing in second place, and should be extremely proud of their efforts. Also, a big thank you to Mr Smithson and Mr Ahearn for coaching on the day.

Assembly—Room 4

This week Room 4 performed a fabulous version of the fairy tale Rapunzel (and her dirty messy hair). All the students spoke and performed with amazing confidence. They also had the audience laughing throughout.
