10. Course overview:
This course includes a series of important topics for the pharmacy assistants. It includes a
general review of the pharmacy history and development of the pharmacy. It also includes
the types of units used in the pharmaceutical sciences and application of that in the
calculation of the doses.
The course is also covers the types of water and its use in the formulation of the mixtures.
Different types of mixtures can be covered by this course such as simple and complicated
mix.
The course also contains the different dosage forms and their application in the pharmacy
such as syrups, emulsions, lotions, powder and solid dosage forms.

11. Course objective: to prepare the students to be efficient pharmacist assistance
after they finished their study in the institute. They should know every things
about drugs and how they can calculate the amount for preparations in
pharmacy.
Special goals : knowledge how to work on machines and equipment used in
drug producing and how to use the suitable instrument and to avoid the
hazards which may occurs during the work and to distinguish between
different constituent of drugs or preparation
12. Student's obligation
The attendance should be obligatory at the time of the lectures. Any absence should be
documented and permitted with legal permission.
More than one activity should be passed by the students including quiz exams and practical
exam in addition to the reports. The theoretical quizzes and practical exams weigh double
the report grades. They weigh 2 versus 1 for the reports.
The use of cell phones during the theoretical and practical sessions is totally unacceptable
and not permitted.
The students should bring all the things necessary during the exam such as calculator, ruler
and pencil.

15. Student learning outcome: After completion of this course, students will be able to work with the pharmacist as
efficient assistant through building of his and / or her knowledge in the pharmacy field. The
students at the end of course will have the ability to use a series of machines and equipment.
In addition, the students will be able to calculate the doses and use of different formulas.
The students will also be able to differentiate between different pharmaceutical dosage
forms and the rationale use of each one.

mention the types, methods, examples, etc.

In this type of exam a short sentence about a specific subject will be provided, and then

20. Extra notes: The provision of the wider space for the lab session could help the students and teacher to
increase the ability to do more advanced works and increase the scope of the lab session.
The provision of the advanced machine and equipment will also help to broaden the
information of the students about the use of these equipment and more understanding of the
theory.
