    comment i s i n order concerning the s ta te of the Mexican economy.A recent Mexican government re lease reported an off ic ia l inf la t ion rate of 98.8%for the year of 1S82. During the year, the Mexican peso w a s devalued f rom i t s1981 ra te of 40 t o the do l l a r t o i t s current level of 1 5 0 to the do l l a r. T h u s ,buying power of the dol lar quadrupled, and the cost of l i v i n g only doubled. S o,in any case where mission money was being converted t o Mexican currency, 1982 w asa b a rg a i n y e a r.

    I m i g h t add, however, t h a t m y personal s a l a r y i s paid in pesos ; and interms of buying power, 1 98 2 s a w a reduction f o r m e . T h a t i s , a l though m y s a l a r yincreased by 50%, prices rose by 100% . In t e rms of dollar equivalency, m y1980-81 sa la ry a t the Universi ty w a s $ 6 0 0 ; t h i s year, i t i s the equivalent of$333 and w i l l continue to drop. A n d m y situation i s better than t ha t of mostMexican workers . Dear Friend of Mexican Evangelism:

If you have kept abreast of the work of the Bajio Christian Mission, you know that the Bill Hoff family and ourselves, the Norm Dungans, have for 12 years worked as a team in Central Mexico, involvedprimarily in new-church evangelism. But last month we the Dungans)returned to the U.S. to begin teaching missions at Johnson BibleCollege, and Bill and Marge have remained in Queretaro to continuethe work there.

However, even with the changes, Bajio Christian Mission continuesto operate as before, having the same philosophy and goals. I willcontinue to be involved with the work through speaking engagements, fund raising, and summer trips back to the field. The majority ofthe congregations that supported the Dungans on the field over theyears have agreed to continue contributing to the Mission, and Iwill be sending on to Mexico those funds, earmarked for: 1) theBible-study-by-correspondence ministry; 2) the church building loanfund; P he evangelism-through-film-presentations work; and 4) support for a young Mexican evangelist. These funds will beadministered by Bill Hoff, and I will be reporting to the contributorsconcerning their use.

Our two families have also long collaborated in the production of

a quarterly newsletter, Saludos, which you have been receiving.Until now, we have maintained two separate mailing lists—one forthe Hoffs and one for the Dungans; and you are currently on the Dunganlist. However, with our return to the U.S., we feel it wise tocombine the two lists into one. For that reason, X need your help.To bring our list of names up to date, to correct errors, to eliminatethe possibil i ty of duplications, and to give opportunity for deletions,I am enclosing a card that I will ask you to return to me if you wishto continue on the Bajio Christian Mission mailing list.

IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE RECEIVING SALUDOS, the quarterly newsletter,PLEASE RETURN THE ENCLOSED CARD TO ME, and your name will be placedon our updated, cpmbined l ist . Only those who respond to th is le t terwill continue to receive the publication.

It is neither our desire nor out intention to remove anyone byforce from our mailings; but we do want to give you the opportunityto decide. Remember: IF YOU DO NOT RETURN THE CARD, YOUR NAME WILL BE

DROPPED FROM OUR MAILING LIST. I hope you will want to take the timeto respond. We covet your readership and your prayers.

    Your co-laborer in Christ,

    / --n
