A month long studio focused on revitalizing Bur-nett Woods using knowledge of green infrastruc-ture and horticulture. We proposed a land bridge over Martin Luther King Street to connect campus and the park physically and through material and plant choices. The movement of storm water from campus to the park was an issue we address by gathering water on the roofs then piping it over our bridge into the park. With metal mesh over the water it allows for interaction with the pedestrians walking over it and also visually separates the bike path from the walking path.

We worked with a client to create a concept and design to get more students interested in manu-facturing. My group focused on enhancing the use of senses to make a more lasting impression on all who visit the center and to give everyone a new way to look at the world around them.

Today’s learning and working environments of lecturing and presenting information to a group creates a disengaging learning experience. There is a resistance to changing the approach of educating that does not encourage the individual learning styles and interests inherent in each individual. We need to design an experience for educating, training, and research that adapts to the individual as well as advancements in technology and the work environment. It needs to be a transparent and unique sensory experience that provides insights into manufacturing and each individual’s personal preferences and interests. This will provide education and training tailored to individuals to help students and leaders learn their place in the process as a whole.

Students and leaders need a learning environment that does not attempt to put them in a mold. Educational environments should be more interactive and tailored to the individual.

How might we create an individual sensory experience of interactive education that immerses you into a new and unique way of perceiving what is around you?

SENSORY TECHNOLOGYEach user is equipped with headgear technology that reads the individual’s brain’s reactions to various areas of information and projects sensory reduction and stimulation to draw the user to areas of interest.

GOING WITHIN THE PROCESSOne area of interest for some might be to understand how machines and technology work. This experience will take the user within a holographic and sensory simulation of the experiences of a material, product, or software from production to user to disposal.

StudioPlaster Cube and Armature

A cube was made from plaster and then the armature was designed around it. The armature is made from poplar. The drawing uses gouache and microns to depict a new design for the plaster cube and armature.

Co-op3-Bay Suite

Worked with another intern to pull materials and furniture selections based on a concept design from a designer in the office. Then I did a rendered floor plan based on the companies standards.

Was given the conceptual design information and collaborated with another designer to pull together schematic design for the different venues.
