Are you interested in science? Do you like to experiment and discover new things? Are you gifted or talented? Do you like to sing, dance, act, or write poetry? Do you paint or draw? Do you have the mind of an entrepreneur?
If you do, then ACT-SO! ACT-SO is a major youth initiative of the NAACP that provides a forum for African American youth to demonstrate their academic, artistic, scientific, and business expertise.
Students receive mentoring to prepare for the March competition where they compete for medals and cash prizes.
Student Eligibility Requirements
Be a high school student of African descent Be a citizen or legal resident of the United States Be an amateur (having not received wages for professional
services) in the category of the ACT-SO competition Attend one of following Orientation Sessions with parent

Sun., Aug. 24th 3-5PM College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn
Sat., Sept. 20th 12-1:30PM** College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd, Glen Ellyn
*This Orientation Session follows the NAACP College Readiness Fair held 8AM-2PM at Oswego East HS.
**This Orientation Session will be followed by our regular monthly Enrichment Session (2 - 5 pm) for students and parents.
Monthly Enrichment Sessions are held at College of DuPage, Student Resource Center - SRC - Rm. 2000,
425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL

Program of the DuPage County Branch NAACP in partnership with the College of DuPage and DuPage Regional Office of Education
JR. ACT-SOJR. ACT-SO is an enrichment programspecifically designed to academicallyand culturally engage junior high/middleschool students of African decent.
Students attend interactive sessionsand workshops led by trainedprofessionals to explore a core group ofcategories and develop their analytical,communication and writing skills. In thespring, students display what they havelearned when they compete for awardsand prizes.
Meetings: 3rd Saturday of each month (September - March)
