Just when I thought li e was crazy thats right. It got crazier. But in agood way.

A ter several years o essentially being out o work, I got a part-timecontract job with Blueprint NC, a progressive nonpro t organization.Blueprint NC works with other nonpro ts across the state and helpsthem rame their messages. Imagine several agencies working in thesame area, say workers rights. Instead o having 30 diferent messagesbeing sent out by at the same time, Blueprint NC works with them torelease the same message or maximum impact.

My job is to recruit senior volunteers (age 55+

), who are interestedin getting spokesperson training so that they can talk com ortablyon television and radio on issues that are important to many olderAmericans, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the creationo caregiver job, and decent pay and pathway to citizenship or paidcaregivers.

I got to go to Washington DC or a training session or communicationspersonnel rom progressive nonpro t agencies across the country.Wow, what an opportunity! I always wondered who the cra ters opolicy messages were, and I got to meet some o them. We were

brie ed on (and even wrestled with) the power and meanings o words, how to use active instead o passive phrasing, and how to streamlinethe message so that it can be grasped quickly and easily.

    Publishers pitch

Im enjoying my new job! Its great to have a job that reasomething and that directly helps people.

I youre age 55 and over and thinking that you might bein spokesperson training, pay a visit to www.caringacrossorg. Feel ree to contact me i youd like to sign up or t(plus the opportunity to attend a con erence on senior isscharge).

As DJ Piddipat I threw my rst dance party at Blue Coreally un, and Im thinking o putting on regular partieset. I you have any ideas, shoot me an email. I think thparty series or people over age 40 could be success ul aover ideas be ore planning to put on the next one. The eakeep up with uture events is to subscribe to my tweets acom/djpiddipat and my tumbles at http://patriciaamurray.(which covers both DJ Piddipat events and Durham SkywSee you next issue!

This is the Occupy Washington DC tent headquarters. They have a number of tents in McPherson Square, and

they even have their own full-color newspaper! Take a look at it at http://owt.occupydc.org.

I would have thought that Washington DC would be all builtup by now. Clearly theyre not done yet. This construction

site was not too far from my hotel near Avenue H.
