The Fisher-Klosterman Packed Bed Scrubber, orPacked Tower, is designed to remove gaseous orvaporous pollutants from an air stream. The pro ­cess is accomplished by contacting the contami­nated air stream with a scrubbing liquor thatabsorbs or chemically reacts with pollutants.Some vapors can be simply removed by condensa­tion through the cooling effect of the circulatingliquid. The cleaned air is then discharged to theatmosphere and the contaminated scrubbing li­quor is either disposed of in an approved manneror chemically treated and recycled. In some casesthe collected contaminants can be recovered andreused in the original or other processes.
