In the fall of 1968 Dwight formed its first soccer team, Mr. Parkes, as coach, hastily trained players to proceed in their game against Friends' Seminary. The opposing teams experience held Dwight at zero goals, but sneaked a victory w ith four scores. Dwight then challenged Franklin, to demonstrate their athletic prowess. As one of the players put it, "W e let them slip by one to zero."

In the third game, however, Dwight managed to tie w ith Stevenson. Carlo Longo must be commended, for w ithou t his skill Dw ight wou ld not have come from a losing two to zero to a tying tw o to two. W ith the w il l to w in and increasing skill, skill through experience, the future of the Dwight soccer team should win the reputation of a formidable opponent to any school.

The above four principal objectives and ideals are recognized by the National Honor Society as fundamental in all educational practice. The purpose is to hold these objectives above everything else as goals towards which we should all strive. In keeping these objectives before this school, we hope to induce others to seek good scholarly habits, to take part in worthy service, and to lead forward in all things that advance the welfare o f the school — always build ing up their ow n characters in carrying out these motives.

They’re friends, these enchanting four- year-olds, and they rom p together with the uninhibited delight o f puppies and kittens and other carefree young creatures. Though their “playground” is the hospital un it o f a research c e n te r . . . though they fall down a lot and can’t always get back on their feet . . . l i f e for them is still fun, still a joyous adventure.

But a shadow hangs over these youngsters — the shadow of m uscular dystrophy. In a year, or two, o r three, they won’t be able to run around any m ore o r even, perhaps, stand up unassisted. Unless a treatm ent is found fo r the disease which is slowly, but inexorably, destroying their muscles, ^ e fu tu re they face is one o f increasing helplessness . . . and tragically prem ature death.
