this past week she

hosted two Young

Hoosier Book parties for

all the students who

completed reading their

list of books. There

were a record number of

students – which was

fabulous! So many

students reached that goal this year and we are so proud of all of

them! The top three reading winners in the school, who read ALL

the books possible, were Sophia Zia, Sasha Trajkovski, and

Marianne Gerona- proudly holding their trophies in the picture!

ATTENTION: SUPER SPELLERS!!!! Are you ready to show your spelling talent? If so, Spell Bowl is perfect for you. If you are interested in trying out for the team next year, start your studying over

the summer!! In September, tryouts will be held for any interested 4th and 5th graders. The test will be on 50 random words from the first 300 words. I look forward to seeing you at tryouts. EISENHOWER FIELD DAY-REMINDERS! ATTENTION PARENTS: Eisenhower Field Day will be held on Tuesday, May 31st. Your child will be spending most of the day outside participating in exciting athletic activities and having FUN! Please make sure they are dressed appropriately (and comfortably) and wear athletic shoes. Be thoughtful about the weather! Make sure they wear sunscreen or bring some to apply themselves. Also, make sure they bring a water bottle with their name marked on it. They should also bring a beach towel to sit on when they eat their lunch. �� Any student having a restriction for gym class will not be able to participate in Field Day unless a note is received from their doctor releasing them to participate in gym activities by the date of Field Day (Tuesday, May 31st). �� Please plan on making arrangements to pick up your child’s medication from the nurse’s office on or before the last day of school which is Friday, June 3rd. DISCOVERY QUEST SUMMER ACADEMY Students, join Mrs. Weller for an enrichment summer camp focused on math, critical thinking, and logical reasoning activities. Online Registration: Online registration will open at 9:00 a.m. on the following days based on the beginning letter of the “Registration Parent’s” last name:

With paperless online registration you can update emergency information, view and print student schedules, as well as pay textbook rental, in the convenience of your own home. New students, or students that were withdrawn at the end of the 2015-16 school year, must register at the school. All others are encouraged to register on-line through Parent Access. Computers will be available for on-line registration in the schools according to the following schedule: Elementary Schools: Monday, August 8th Returning Students – 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Middle Schools: Wednesday, August 10th Returning Students – 2:00-6:00 p.m.

High School: Thursday, August 11th Returning Students – 2:00-6:00 p.m.

ST. JUDE HOUSE – NWI HOUSE RAFFLE It is NWI House Raffle time once again. Each year the raffle brings in over $100,000 to assist St. Jude House in its mission. It is by far our largest fund raiser. You can help too – share the information from the NWI House Raffle with your friends and encourage them to purchase a ticket. Our web site is www.nwihouseraffle.org and information will also be on the SJH website. Tickets are $150.00 but discounted to $125.00 up until the day of the kickoff on Saturday, June 4th. The kickoff is held at the Southlake YMCA in Crown Point from 8:00am to 2:00pm. There are four days of home tours, June 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th. BUTTERFLY TRAIL RUN AND WALK Join friends, neighbors and Hope Center supporters for a fun morning at Stoney Run County Park on Saturday, June 11th at 9:00am. Walkers enjoy a peaceful walk through the park with friends. Young runners aren’t left out – they run a ½ mile fun run. Northwest Indiana cancer survivors will be honored at the event. Proceeds support free Hope Center Programs for survivors and their families: support groups, family fun events, informational resources, restorative stretching and more. First, second and third place medals are awarded for the 5K Butterfly Trail Run. Pre-registration is $30 and includes a t-shirt. Walk in honor of a survivor in in memory of a family member of friend!
