Fixing the Halfen T-head bolt to the Halfen channel

Fig. 1:Polystyrene bead filler:

use an appropriate tool (e.g. carpentershammer, hook with flat tip, screwdriver orsimilar).

Fig 2:Easy strip (combi) filler:

catch the strip at one end by hand andpull it out with the aid of a tool, e.g. ascrew driver.

Fig. 3:The Halfen T-head bolt can be inserted into the channel slot at any point alongthe channel length. After a 90° turn clockwise, the T-head of the bolt locksinto position to enable the nut to be tightened. Halfen T-head bolts must not

be positioned in the overhang beyond the last anchor at the channel ends. Thechannel overhang is min. 35 mm from the last anchor, and the positions of theanchors (when bolt anchors) can be clearly seen through the channel slot. After fixing: check the correct engagement of the T-head bolt: the slot on theshank end of the bolt must be perpendicular to the channel longitudinal axis.

Fig. 4:If the face of the channel is recessed due to concrete vibration, thentightening the T-head bolts may bend the channel lips. If a problem occursit may be necessary to pack the lips of the channel as shown in Fig. 4. Inextreme cases it may also be necessary for the job engineer to check forbending in the bolt shank.

Fig. 5:Washers should always be used under the nut, as described by the job engi-neer.

For guidance: - over component with drilled hole - normal form A washerover component with punched slot - heavy plate washer.nut direct to channel lips (see fig. 5) - heavy plate washer.

Fig. 6: Tighten the hex nut. Torque is not normally checked as normal siteworkmanship is acceptable. If torque settings are required, please see Table 2.Shimming to a recessed
