DWS PREMIER INVESTMENTS FUNDS - DWS CHINA EQUITY FUND (Constituted under a Trust Deed in the Republic of Singapore) MANAGER’S MARKET REVIEW AND STRATEGY For the half-year ended 30 June 2021 Investment and Market Review For the period under review, the MSCI China 10/40 (as measured in USD) gained 2.2%, underperformed the regional countries performance. China have experienced economic recovery from the reopening from the pandemic situation in the first quarter; but we saw rebound of cases in the Guangdong Province in June. In addition, the rebound of material cost (e.g. Steel and Copper prices), have spurred concerns on the rising of cost of the manufacturing sectors, and negative outlook of their margins. In addition, the market sentiment have been negatively affected by the anti-trust investigations launched by Chinese regulators in the internet space. The Fund underperformed the benchmark for the period under review. Our stock selections in the Consumer Discretionary, Healthcare and Utilities Sectors were the key reasons for the underperformance to the Fund during the period. On the other hand, our stock selections in the Information Technology, Industrials, and Consumer Staples have created positive impact to our performance during the period. Market Outlook and Investment Strategy In the second half of 2021, on the macro side, we believe China will continue to recover from reopening from the pandemic situation, and the increase in the nation’s vaccination rate. On the equity investment side, we believe market will be more focusing on the different types of measures and structural reforms released by the Central Government. The Fund continues to favour secular growth themes in certain consumption sub-sectors such as electric vehicles (EVs), sportswear, and catering. We also favour consumer staples sector given its earnings defensiveness, especially the leading national champion brands that can continue to gain market share. We believe these national champion brand owners are more likely to pass through cost pressure to customers. We are also positive in themes which is encouraged by the Chinese government, including solar, industrial automation, and semiconductors. DWS PREMIER INVESTMENTS FUNDS - DWS GLOBAL THEMES EQUITY FUND (Constituted under a Trust Deed in the Republic of Singapore) MANAGER’S MARKET REVIEW AND STRATEGY For the half-year ended 30 June 2021 Investment policy and objective DWS Global Themes Equity Fund strives for a sustainable accumulation of value. In order to achieve this target, the fund predominantly invests in stocks of domestic and foreign companies, which capitalize on long-term structural trends like demographic change, scarcity of resources, climate change, urbanization, digitalization, industrial revolution and changing living standards. The portfolio is comprised of companies, which allow for a favorable development of business and strength of returns over the long-term. Thereby, the fund management’s long-term investment horizon provides for a strong continuity of each portfolio position. Particularly, the sustainability of the business model, the quality of the responsible corporate management teams, soundness of balance sheets and a reasonable valuation play more of an important role than any short-term stock price reactions. Market review The first half of 2021 global equity markets was mostly driven by the Covid-19 pandemic and the inflation debate. Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic the sectors which were hit most by the lockdowns in 2020/21 recovered most such as Energy and Leisure including airlines and travel related stocks. This was on the back of increased confidence that the pandemic is coming to an end due to real world efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines against as well as the fact that vaccine capacity is large enough for vaccinating the whole world until YE22. Additional confidence was given by the fact that vaccines are working well against current variants. The other major debate which started in the 2nd half of February was the inflation debate where fears of increased inflation leading to an increase in central bank policy rates in the US let the 10y Treasury yield rise significantly. This lead to a massive sell off of high multiple growth stocks such as biotech and renewable energy related stocks while on the same time triggering a value rallye with especially financials stock strongly outperforming. This effect slightly faded in June with a partial reversal of this move. In the first half of 2021, the U.S. equity market, measured by the S&P 500 Index, increased by 16% (in USD), European stocks increased by 15% (MSCI Europe in EUR), the Japanese equity market increased by 9% (Topix Index in JPY). The MSCI Emerging Markets increased by 8% (in USD). From a sector perspective, energy had by far a standout performance. Financials and Real Estate followed. In contrast, utilities and staples were the weakest sectors. All in, the DWS Global Themes Equity Fund gained 7.1%, while the benchmark MSCI World Net Total Return Index gained 15.0% (both SGD). In the current reporting period, the relative performance difference came 5.6% from security selection and 2.3% from sector allocation. From a regional perspective, the US continues to dominate the portfolio but changed from overweight to underweight versus the MSCI World Index and therefore Europe is now overweight. The regional allocation is a result of single stock picks and not an active decision based on a regional view. On a sector level, the underweights of financials and the overweight of healthcare were the main negative contributors. The underweights in Utilities and Consumer Staples were the only positive contributers. The long-term investment horizon of the fund management ensures a strong continuity among the single stock positions as well as the relative weights of the different sectors and regions. The sustainability of the business model, the quality of the management, sound balance sheets and the valuation levels have a more important role than short-term share price fluctuations. Based upon these characteristics the fund generally puts a large emphasis on technology companies with large innovation capabilities, consumer stocks with strong brands and innovative health care companies. In contrast, companies from the raw materials and energy space are considered only selectively due to an often poor discipline with regard to capacity expansion projects as well as the direct dependency on raw material prices which could be negative for shareholder return. The same holds for the utility sector, where regulatory interventions such as the energy transition (to renewables), translated into uncertainties around the sustainability of their business models. Another strong overweight are Asian technology companies, which oftentimes are at the forefront of technological developments. Health care companies, especially biotechnology, remain a focal element of the portfolio.

DWS PREMIER INVESTMENTS FUNDS - DWS INDIA EQUITY FUND (Constituted under a Trust Deed in the Republic of Singapore) MANAGER’S MARKET REVIEW AND STRATEGY For the half-year ended 30 June 2021 Investment and Market Review The positive undertone continued for Indian markets in sync with its global peers. Indian market had a strong and positive start to the first six months of the calendar year. COVID situation seems to be improving with daily new cases below 50,000 while vaccination drive also gathers pace. Amongst sectors, I.T., Infrastructure, Energy and Metals were the key outperformers while Consumption, Pharmaceuticals and Realty lagged. Banking underperformed marginally. In the first half of CY 2021, Foreign Institutional Investors were net buyers of USD8bn. On the macro front, Jan-March 2021 quarter GDP growth improved to (+1.6%) and came ahead of expectations, however COVID related local levels lockdowns from April 2021 may dampen the elevated forecast for FY22 GDP. Government’s fiscal deficit in FY21 came at 9.3% of GDP, tad lower than the 9.5% however, FY22 budgeted target of 6.8% of GDP may need a revision given the current environment. May Consumer Price Index has been increasing and was well above RBI comfort levels by May 2021 at to 6.3%. RBI Monetary Policy Committee maintained status quo on rates while FY22 growth forecast was cut to +9.5% and inflation revised up by ~25bps to 5.1%. Corporate earnings growth is showing steady improvement quarter on quarter, on low base of last year, revival in demand and cost rationalization efforts aiding operating margin expansion. The Union Budget presented during the beginning of the first half was overall a positive one with emphasis on asset creation and infrastructure and had no major negative announcements with regards to personal or corporate tax and additional duties (such as COVID cess etc) which was much feared by the market participants. Government announced Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) and restructuring aimed at the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises sector and gradually increased limit of the relief package to Rs 4.5 trillion. This was a much-needed step in the right direction to support MSME businesses and cushion asset quality pressures for the Banking system. During Feb-March there was a serious push by the government to increase domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence in many areas. Government announced Production Linked Incentive schemes across various sectors to kick-start local manufacturing and create traction in private capex cycle. Investment Policy in the reporting Period The fund underperformed the benchmark in the first half of 2021, mainly driven by stock selections, particularly in consumer discretionary, materials, and energy sectors. We preferred large private banks and Non-Banking Financial Company with good asset quality, which contributed positively in the first half. An underweight in communication services was also positive. At the stock level, overweighting State Bank of India, Finolex Industries and Ramco Cements were the main contributors, while the underweight positions in TATA steel, Axis Banks and overweighting Kotak Mahindra Bank detracted the performance. Outlook All eyes seem to be on normalcy returning to economy as infections are on the way down, while the possibility of a third wave cannot be totally ruled out. Vaccination is the most important tool and variable against the virus, which had been sluggish till May 2021 but is picking up and with the government targeting to inoculate majority of the population by December 2021, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. The key monitorable for Indian equity markets in the near to medium term are the number of COVID daily cases, efficacy of the vaccination program, global crude prices and inflation. Some trends such as digitalisation, cost rationalization, manufacturing push are here to stay and sets the stage for a longer-term growth story. While commodity price increase is a bit of a worry in general, however, their cyclical nature tends to even out the impact over the long term. At current valuations we remain constructive albeit selective on the markets and continue to resort to quality business models, with strong balance sheets, positive operating cash flows, good corporate governance standards and pricing power. DWS PREMIER INVESTMENTS FUNDS - DWS SINGAPORE EQUITY FUND (Constituted under a Trust Deed in the Republic of Singapore) MANAGER’S MARKET REVIEW AND STRATEGY For the half-year ended 30 June 2021 Investment and Market Review Asian stocks rose during the reporting period. While COVID-19 cases continued to rise with more infectious variants reported, equity markets were supported by the start of vaccination programs, government relief measures and high level of liquidity injected by central banks around the world. Volatilities started to increase as the US contemplated tapering and reduced corporate bond purchase. Singapore outperformed, driven by financials, despite delayed resumption of international travel. 1The Fund underperformed the 2benchmark for the period under review. Underweight allocation in real estate and information technology, as well as overweight allocation in financials were the top contributors. Overweighting consumer discretionary and consumer staples detracted the performance. At the stock level, Venture Corporation, OCBC and DBS had the best contributions, while Genting Singapore, Thai Beverage and Frasers Centrepoint Trust contributed negatively. ________________________________ 1 DWS Singapore Equity Fund 2 MSCI Singapore Net Return SGD Index This information is intended for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice, a recommendation, an offer or solicitation and was prepared without regard to the specific investment objectives, financial situation or particular needs of any particular person.
