When detaching the control panel, store it in the DCP (DETACHABLE CONTROL PANEL) case to prevent scratches. We recommend taking the DCP with you when leaving the car. Removing the DCP 1. Press the [SRC] button for 1 second or longer to turn off the power. 2. Deeply push in [OPEN] button to unlock the flip down panel. If the flip down panel does not open fully, gently open it with your hand. The DCP can easily be damaged by shocks. After removing it, be careful not to drop it or subject it to strong shocks. Removing the DCP1. Press the [SRC] button for 1 second or

Inserting the Battery1 Turn over the remote control unit and slide the cover

in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration.

2 Insert the battery (CR2025) into the insertion guides, with the printed side (+) facing upwards.

3 Press the battery in the direction indicated by the arrow so that it slides into the compartment.

4 Replace the cover and slide in until it clicks into place.

Notes: Misuse may result in rupture of the battery, producing leakage of fluid and resulting in personal injury or damage to surrounding materials. Always follow these safety precautions:

• Use only the designated battery .

• When replacing the battery, insert properly, with +/– polarities oriented correctly.

6. OPERATIONSBasic Operations Note:Be sure to read this chapter referring to the front diagrams of

chapter “2. CONTROLS” on page 5 (unfold).

CAUTIONBe sure to lower the volume beforeswitching off the unit power or the ignitionkey. The unit remembers its last volumesetting. If you switch the power off with thevolume up, when you switch the power backon, the sudden loud volume may hurt yourhearing and damage the unit.

Turning on/off the powerNote:• Be careful about using this unit for a long time

without running the engine. If you drain the car’sbattery too far, you may not be able to start theengine and this can reduce the service life of thebattery.

1. Press the [SRC] button.

2. The illumination and display on the unit lightup. The unit automatically remembers its lastoperation mode and will automatically switchto display that mode.

3. Press and hold the [SRC] button for 1 secondor longer to turn off the power for the unit.

Note:• The first time this unit is turned on after the wire

connections are completed, it must be checkedwhat equipment is connected. When the power isturned on, “SYSTEM CHK” appears in thedisplay, then “TUNER” appears in the display andchange to radio mode.

Selecting a mode1. Press the [SRC] button to change the

operation mode.

2. Each time you press the [SRC] button, theoperation mode changes in the followingorder:

Radio mode DAB mode CD/MP3/WMAmode CD changer mode DVD changermode TV mode AUX mode Radiomode...∗ External equipment not connected with

CeNET is not displayed.∗ If AUX is set in AUX/TEL, AUX mode can be

selected.

Adjusting the volume1. Press the front part of the [ROTARY] knob.

The knob will pop up.

2. Turning the [ROTARY] knob clockwiseincreases the volume; turning itcounterclockwise decreases the volume.∗ The volume level is from 0 (minimum) to 33

(maximum).

Switching the displayPress the [D] button to select the desired display.

Each time you press the [D] button, the displayswitches in the following order:

Main display Title display Clock (CT) display Main display∗ Once selected, the preferred display becomes

the display default. When a functionadjustment such as volume is made, thescreen will momentarily switch to thatfunction’s display, then revert back to thepreferred display several seconds after theadjustment.

∗ When CT data is not received, “CT––:––”appears in the display.

Setting the Z-Enhancer PlusThis unit are provided with 4 types of soundtone effects stored in memory. Select the oneyou prefer.∗ The factory default setting is “Z+ OFF”.

Each time you press the [Z+] button, the toneeffect changes in the following order:

“Z+ OFF” “BASS BOOST” “IMPACT” “EXCITE” “CUSTOM” “Z+ OFF” ...• BASS BOOST : bass emphasized

• IMPACT : bass and trebleemphasized

2. Turning the [ROTARY] knob clockwiseemphasizes the bass; turning itcounterclockwise attenuates the bass.∗ The factory default setting is “BASS <G 0>”.

(Adjustment range: –6 to +8)

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “BASS <F 50>”.

Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select thefrequency.∗ The factory default setting is “BASS <F 50>”.

(Adjustment 50/80/120 Hz)

4. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “BASS <Q 1>”.

Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select the Q-curve.∗ The factory default setting is “BASS <Q 1>”.

(Adjustment 1/1.25/1.5/2)

5. When the adjustment is complete, press the[A-M] button several times until the functionmode is reached.

Adjusting the treble (Gain,Frequency)This adjustment can be performed when the Z-Enhancer Plus is set to “CUSTOM”.

1. Press the [A-M] button and select“TREB <G 0>”.

2. Turning the [ROTARY] knob clockwiseemphasizes the treble; turning itcounterclockwise attenuates the treble.∗ The factory default setting is “TREB <G 0>”.

(Adjustment range: –6 to +6)

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “TREB <F 12K>”.

Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select thefrequency.∗ The factory default setting is “TREB <F

12K>”. (Adjustment 8 kHz/12 kHz)

4. When the adjustment is complete, press the[A-M] button several times until the functionmode is reached.

Adjusting the balance1. Press the [A-M] button and select “BAL 0”.

2. Turning the [ROTARY] knob clockwiseemphasizes the sound from the rightspeaker; turning it counterclockwiseemphasizes the sound from the left speaker.∗ The factory default setting is “BAL 0”.

(Adjustment range: L13 to R13)

3. When the adjustment is complete, press the[A-M] button several times until the functionmode is reached.

Adjusting the fader1. Press the [A-M] button and select “FAD 0”.

2. Turning the [ROTARY] knob clockwiseemphasizes the sound from the frontspeakers; turning it counterclockwiseemphasizes the sound from the rearspeakers.∗ The factory default setting is “FAD 0”.

(Adjustment range: F12 to R12)

3. When the adjustment is complete, press the[A-M] button several times until the functionmode is reached.

Note:• During A-M adjustment mode, if no operation is

performed for more than 7 seconds, this modecan be cancelled and return to previous mode.

Radio Operations

Listening to the radio1. Press the [SRC] button and select the radio

mode. The frequency or PS appears in thedisplay.∗ PS: Programme service name

2. Press the [BND] button and select the radioband. Each time the button is pressed, theradio reception band changes in the followingorder:

FM1 FM2 FM3 AM (MW/LW) FM1...

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to tune in the desired station.

TuningThere are 3 types of tuning mode available,seek tuning, manual tuning and preset tuning.

Seek tuningThere are 2 types of seek tuning: DX SEEK andLOCAL SEEK.

DX SEEK can automatically tune in toreceivable broadcast stations; LOCAL SEEKcan tune in to only broadcast stations with agood reception sensitivity.

1. Press the [BND] button and select thedesired band (FM or AM (MW, LW)).

2. Tune into a station.∗ If “MANU” is lit in the display, press and hold

the [BND] button for 1 second or longer.“MANU” in the display goes off and seektuning is now available.

∗ If “TA” is lit in the display, TP stations areautomatically sought.

DX SEEKPress the [a, d] lever upward or downward tostart automatic station tuning.

When the lever is pressed upward, search willbe performing in the direction of higherfrequencies. When the lever is presseddownward, search will be performed in thedirection of lower frequencies.∗ When seek tuning starts, “DX” appears in the

display.

LOCAL SEEKIf the lever is pressed upward or downward andheld in position for 1 second or longer, localseek tuning will be enabled. Broadcast stationswith good reception sensitivity are selected.∗ When local seeking starts, “LO” appears in the

display.

Basic Operations

Adjusting the Z-Enhancer Plus1. Press the [Z+] button and select the Z-

Enhancer Plus mode to adjust.

2. Press the [A-M] button and turning the[ROTARY] knob clockwise adjusts in the +direction; tuning it counterclockwise adjustsin the – direction.

When “B-BOOST 0” selected, you can ad-just the bass in the range of –3 to 3.

When “IMPACT 0” selected, you can ad-just the bass and treble in the range of –3to 3.

When “EXCITE 0” selected, you can adjustthe bass and treble in the range of –3 to 3.

∗ When Z-Enhancer Plus is selected, press andhold the [Z+] button for 1 second or longer tochange to the “CUSTOM” mode.Bass/treble characteristics become flat and“Z+ FLAT” is shown in the display.Press the [Z+] button again to change to the“Z+ OFF” mode.

Adjusting MAGNA BASS EXTENDThe MAGNA BASS EXTEND does not adjustthe low sound area like the normal soundadjustment function, but emphasizes the deepbass sound area to provide you with a dynamicsound.

1. Press and hold the [A-M] button for 1 secondor longer to turn on the MAGNA BASSEXTEND effect. “M-B EX” lights in thedisplay.

2. Press and hold the [A-M] button for 1 secondor longer to turn off the MAGNA BASSEXTEND effect. “M-B EX” goes off from thedisplay.∗ The factory default setting is off.

CT (Clock Time) functionThe CT function receives CT data sent from anRDS station and displays the time. Press the [D]button to switch to the CT display.∗ If a CT data is not being received, “CT––:––”

appears in the display.Note:• CT data is not transmitted in some countries and

by some broadcast stations. Also, in some areas,the CT may not display accurately.

Manual tuningThere are 2 ways available: Quick tuning andstep tuning.

When you are in the step tuning mode, thefrequency changes one step at a time. In thequick tuning mode, you can quickly tune thedesired frequency.

1. Press the [BND] button and select thedesired band (FM or AM (MW/LW)).∗ If “MANU” is not lit in the display, press and

hold the [BND] button for 1 second or longer.“MANU” is lit in the display and manual tuningis now available.

2. Tune into a station.

Quick tuning:Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward and hold in position for 1 secondor longer to begin station tuning.

Step tuning:Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to perform manual tuning.∗ If no operation is performed for more than 7

seconds, manual tuning is cancelled and thedisplay returns to the previous mode.

Recalling a preset stationA total of 24 preset positions (6-FM1, 6-FM2, 6-FM3, 6-AM) exists to store individual radiostations in memory. Pressing the corresponding[DIRECT] button recalls the stored radiofrequency automatically.

1. Press the [BND] button and select thedesired band (FM or AM (MW/LW)).

2. Press the corresponding [DIRECT] button torecall the stored station.∗ Press and hold one of the [DIRECT] buttons

for 2 seconds or longer to store that stationinto preset memory.

Manual memory1. Select the desired station with seek tuning,

manual tuning or preset tuning.

2. Press and hold one of the [DIRECT] buttonsfor 2 seconds or longer to store the currentstation into preset memory.

Radio Operations

Auto storeAuto store is a function for storing up to 6stations that are automatically tuned insequentially. If 6 receivable stations cannot bereceived, a previously stored station remainsunoverwritten at the memory position.

1. Press the [BND] button and select thedesired band (FM or AM (MW/LW)).

2. Press and hold the [ ] button for 2seconds or longer. The stations with goodreception are stored automatically to thepreset channels.∗ If auto store is performed in the FM bands, the

stations are stored in FM3 even if FM1 or FM2was chosen for storing stations.

Preset scanPreset scan receives the stations stored inpreset memory in order. This function is usefulwhen searching for a desired station in memory.

1. Press the [ ] button.

2. When a desired station is tuned in, press the[ ] button again to continue receiving thatstation.

Note:• Be careful not to press and hold the [ ] button

for 2 seconds or longer, otherwise the auto storefunction is engaged and the unit starts storingstations.

∗ If the reception of the current broadcast stationdeteriorates, “PI SEARCH” appears in the displayand the radio searches for the same programmeon another frequency.

AF function between RDS and DABWhen the same programme is broadcasted byboth RDS and DAB, and this function is ON, theunit switches to receive the broadcast with thebetter reception automatically.∗ This function only operates when the DAH923 or

DAH913 DAB unit, sold separately, is connected.∗ This factory default setting is “ON”.

1. Press the [ADJ] button to switch to theadjustment selection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward or downwardto select “LINK ACT”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select “ON” or“OFF”.

ON:AF switching between DAB and RDS enabled.

OFF:AF switching between DAB and RDS disabled.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

REG (Regional programme) functionWhen the REG function is ON, the optimumregional station can be received. When thisfunction is OFF, if the regional station areaswitches as you drive, a regional station for thatregion is received.∗ The factory default setting is “OFF”.Notes:• This function is disabled when a national station

such as BBC R2 is being received.• The REG function ON/OFF setting is valid when

the AF function is ON.1. Press and hold the [ADJ] button for 1 second

or longer to switch to the RDS adjustmentselection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “REG”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select “ON” or“OFF”.

ON:“REG” in the display lights and REG functionturns on.

OFF:“REG” in the display goes off and REGfunction turns off.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

RDS Operations

RDS (Radio Data System)This unit has a built-in RDS decoder system thatsupports broadcast stations transmitting RDS data.

This system can display the name of thebroadcast station being received (PS) and canautomatically switch to the broadcast stationwith the best reception as you move longdistances (AF switching).

Also, if a traffic announcement or programmetype is broadcast from an RDS station, no matterwhat mode you are in, this broadcast is received.

Additionally, if EON information is received, thisinformation enables automatic switching of otherpreset stations on the same network andinterruption of the station being received withtraffic information from other stations (TP). Thisfunction is not available in some areas.

When using the RDS function, always set theradio to FM mode.

• AF : Alternative Frequency• PS : Programme Service Name• PTY : Programme Type• EON : Enhanced Other Network• TP : Traffic Programme∗ RDS interrupt does not function during AM radio

reception.∗ When set receives RDS signal, and can read PS

data, PS appears in the display.

AF functionThe AF function switches to a differentfrequency on the same network in order tomaintain optimum reception.∗ The factory default setting is “ON”.

1. Press and hold the [ADJ] button for 1 secondor longer to switch to the RDS adjustmentselection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “AF”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select “ON” or“OFF”.

ON:“AF” in the display lights and AF functionturns on.

OFF:“AF” in the display goes off and AF functionturns off.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

RDS Operations

Manually tuning a regional stationin the same network1. This function is valid when the AF function is

ON and the REG function is OFF.Note:• This function can be used when a regional

broadcast of the same network is received.2. Press any one of the [DIRECT] buttons to

call out the regional station.

3. If the reception condition of the called outstation is bad, press the [DIRECT] button ofthe same number. The unit receives a localstation on the same network.

TA (Traffic Announcement)In the TA standby mode, when a trafficannouncement broadcast starts, the trafficannouncement broadcast is received as toppriority regardless of the function mode so youcan listen to it. Traffic programme (TP)automatic tuning is also possible.∗ This function can only be used when “TP” is lit in

the display. When “TP” is lit, this means that theRDS broadcast station being received has trafficannouncement programmes.

Setting the TA standby modeIf you press the [TA] button when only “TP” is litin the display, “TP” and “TA” light in the displayand the unit is set into the TA standby modeuntil a traffic announcement is broadcast. Whena traffic announcement broadcast starts, “TRAINFO” appears in the display. If you press the[TA] button while a traffic announcementbroadcast is being received, the trafficannouncement broadcast reception is cancelledand the unit goes into the TA standby mode.

Cancelling the TA standby modeAs “TP” and “TA” lit in the display, press the [TA]button. The “TA” in the display goes off and theTA standby mode is cancelled.∗ If “TP” is not lit, pressing the [TA] button searches

for a TP station.

Searching for a TP stationWhen “TP” is not lit, if you press the [TA] button,“TA” in the display lights and the unitautomatically receives a TP station.Note:• If a TP station is not received, the unit continues

the search operation. Pressing [TA] button againgoes off “TA” in the display and stops TP stationsearching.

Auto store function for TP stationsYou can automatically store up to 6 TP stations intopreset memory. If the number of TP can be receivedless than 6, broadcast stations already stored inmemory and left without being overwritten.

As “TA” lit in the display, press and hold the[ ] button for 2 seconds or longer. The TPstations with the good reception sensitivity arestored into preset memory.∗ Even if you select FM1 or FM2, a TP station is stored

into memory for FM3.

PTYThis function enables you to listen to abroadcast of the selected programme type evenif the unit is on a function mode other than radio.∗ Some countries do not yet have PTY broadcast.∗ In the TA standby mode, a TP station has priority

over a PTY broadcast station.∗ The factory default setting is “OFF”.

1. Press and hold the [ADJ] button for 1 secondor longer to switch to the RDS adjustmentselection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “PTY”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select “ON” or“OFF”.

ON:“PTY” in the display lights and PTY standbymode is turned on. When the selected PTYbroadcast starts, the PTY item nameappears in the display.

OFF:“PTY” in the display goes off and PTYstandby mode is cancelled.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

Cancelling a PTY interrupt broadcastPress the [TA] button during the PTY interruptbroadcast, the PTY interrupt is cancelled andthe unit returns to PTY standby mode.

Selecting PTY1. Press and hold the [ADJ] button for 1 second

or longer to switch to the RDS adjustmentselection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “PTY-SEL <E>”.

3. Press the [ ] button.

MP3/WMAWhat is MP3?MP3 is an audio compression method andclassified into audio layer 3 of MPEG standards.This audio compression method has penetratedinto PC users and become a standard format.

This MP3 features the original audio datacompression to about 10 percent of its initialsize with a high sound quality. This means thatabout 10 music CDs can be recorded on a CD-R disc or CD-RW disc to allow a long listeningtime without having to change CDs.

What is WMA?WMA is the abbreviation of Windows MediaAudio, an audio file format developed byMicrosoft Corporation.Notes:• If you play a file with DRM (Digital Rights

Management) for WMA remaining ON, no audiois output. (The WMA indicator blinks.)

• Windows Media™, and the Windows ® logo aretrademarks, or registered trademarks of MicrosoftCorporation in the United States and/or othercountries.

To disable DRM (Digital Rights Management):1. When using Windows Media Player 8, click

on TOOLS OPTIONS COPY MUSICtab, then under COPY SETTINGS, unclickthe check box for PROTECT CONTENT.Then, reconstruct files.

2. When using Windows Media Player 9, clickon TOOL OPTIONS MUSIC RECORDtab, then under Recording settings, unclickthe Check box for RECORD PROTECTEDMUSIC. Then, reconstruct files.

Personally constructed WMA files are usedat your own responsibility.

Precautions when creating MP3/WMA disc Usable sampling rates and bit rates:1. MP3: Sampling rate 11.025 kHz-48 kHz,

Bit rate: 8 kbps-320 kbps / VBR

2. WMA: Bit rate 48 kbps-192 kbps

File extensions1. Always add a file extension “.MP3” or

“.WMA” to MP3 or WMA file by using singlebyte letters. If you add a file extension otherthan specified or forget to add the fileextension , the file cannot be played.

CD/MP3/WMA Operations

Switching the PTY display languageYou can select one of 4 languages (English,German, Swedish or French) for the PTYdisplayed in the display.∗ The factory default setting is “ENGLISH”.

1. Press the [ADJ] button to switch to theadjustment selection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “LANGUAGE”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select thedesired language.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

Volume setting of TA, emergencybroadcast (ALARM) and PTYThe volume for TA, ALARM and PTY interruptscan be set during TA, ALARM or PTY interrupt.∗ The factory default setting is “15”.

During a TA, ALARM or PTY interrupt, turn the[ROTARY] knob to set the volume to the desiredlevel (0 to 33).∗ When the TA, ALARM or PTY interrupt ends, the

volume returns to the level it had before theinterrupt.

2. Files without MP3/WMA data will not play.The indication “––:––” appears in the playtime display if you attempt to play fileswithout MP3/WMA data.

Logical format (File system)1. When writing MP3/WMA file on a CD-R disc or

CD-RW disc, please select “ISO9660 level 1, 2or JOLIET or Romeo” as the writing softwareformat. Normal play may not be possible if thedisc is recorded on another format.

2. The folder name and file name can be displayedas the title during MP3/WMA play but the titlemust be within 128 single byte alphabeticalletters and numerals (including an extension).

3. Do not affix a name to a file inside a folderhaving the same name.

Folder structure1. A disc with a folder having more than 8

hierarchical levels will be impossible.

Number of files or folders1. Up to 255 files can be recognized per folder.

Up to 500 files can be played.

2. Tracks are played in the order that they wererecorded onto a disc. (Tracks might not alwaysbe played in the order displayed on the PC.)

3. Some noise may occur depending on the typeof encoder software used while recording.

Multisession functionWhen a disc contains both normal CD type tracksand MP3/WMA type tracks mixedly, you canselect which type of the recorded tracks to play.

Default value is “CD”.Each time you press and hold the [BND] button for1 second or longer, the mixed mode is switchedbetween CD type or MP3/WMA type. The followingindication appears in the title display when switchingthe track type to be played.

3. When a mixed mode CD is loaded and CD isset, the track to be played first is MP3/WMAfile data and no sound is heard.

Note:• When playing a CCCD (Copy Control CD), set the

setting to CD type. When this is set to MP3/WMAtype, the CD cannot be played normally in somecases.

Backup Eject functionJust pressing the [Q] button ejects the disceven if the power to the unit was not turned on.

1. Press the [OPEN] button to open the FLIPDOWN PANEL.

Note:• If the FLIP DOWN PANEL will not open far

enough, open it gently with your hand.2. Press the [Q] button. Remove the disc after

it is ejected.

3. Close the FLIP DOWN PANEL.Notes:• Always close the FLIP DOWN PANEL once you

take out the disc.• If you force a CD into before auto reloading, this

can damage the CD.• If a CD (12 cm) is left in the ejected position for

15 seconds, the CD is automatically reloaded.(Auto reload).

• 8 cm CDs are not auto reloaded. Be sure toremove it when ejected.

Listening to a disc already loadedin the unitPress the [SRC] button to select the CD/MP3/WMA mode.

When the unit enters the CD/MP3/WMA mode,play starts automatically.

If there is no disc loaded, the indication “NODISC” appears in the title display.∗ The mode changes each time the [SRC] button is

pressed. (Modes are not displayed for equipmentthat is not connected.)

Top functionThe top function resets the CD player to the firsttrack of the disc. Press the [BND] button to playthe first track (track No. 1) on the disc.∗ In case of MP3/WMA, the first track of a folder being

Other various play functions Scan playThis function allows you to locate and play the first10 seconds of all the tracks recorded on a disc.

1. Press the [SCN] button to perform scan play.

The indication “SCN” lights in the display.∗ Scan play starts from the next track after the

track currently being played.

Folder scan playThis function allows you to locate and play thefirst 10 seconds of the first track of all thefolders on an MP3/WMA disc.

1. Press and hold the [SCN] button for 1second or longer to perform folder scan play.

The indications “ALL···” and “SCN” light inthe display.∗ Folder scan play starts from the next track

after the track currently being played.

Repeat playThis function allows you to play the current trackrepeatedly.

Play list modeThis function allows you to play tracks, up tolatest 5 time stamps, by reading the play listinformation written on the disc.

1. Press and hold the [P.LIST] button for 1second or longer to turn on or off the play listmode.∗ Play list play is possible only when there is a file

whose extension is “.M3U” on the CD-R/RW.∗ Up to 5 play lists can be recognized, and up to

255 files can be recognized per play list.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to change the track.

Press the [UP] button to move to the nextplay list.

Notes:• The SCN/RPT/RDM functions cannot be used

Making a play list1. Write desired tracks to a CD-R/RW, etc. Be

sure to use alphanumeric/ASCII charactersfor all file names.

2. Make a play list by using a multimediaplayer, etc. and save the data. The file formatmust be M3U.

3. Again, write this play list to the CD-R/RW, etc.Notes:• When writing to a CD-R/RW, etc., be sure to use

alphanumeric/ASCII characters.• Up to 5 layers can be recognized as a list. For

written play lists, latest 5 lists are recognized inthe order in which they are written.

• When writing to a CD-R/RW, etc., turn off the DiscAt Once function.

• When adding a play list, it is recommended towrite it in the Root folder.

CD changer functionsWhen an optional CD changer is connectedthrough the CeNET cable, this unit controls allCD changer functions. This unit can control atotal of 2 changers.

Press the [SRC] button and select the CDchanger mode to start play. If 2 CD changersare connected, press the [SRC] button to selectthe CD changer for play.∗ If “NO MAG” appears in the display, insert the

magazine into the CD changer. “DISC CHECK”appears in the display while the player loads(checks) the magazine.

∗ If “NO DISC” appears in the display, eject themagazine and insert discs into each slot. Then,reinsert the magazine back into the CD changer.

Note:• Some CDs recorded in CD-R/CD-RW mode may

not be usable.

desired CD.

TV tuner functionsWhen an optional TV tuner is connected throughthe CeNET cable, this unit controls all TV tunerfunctions. To watch TV requires a TV tuner andmonitor.

Watching a TV1. Press the [SRC] button and select the TV

mode.

2. Press the [BND] button to select the desiredTV band (TV1 or TV2). Each time the buttonis pressed, the input selection togglesbetween TV1 and TV2.

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to tune in the desired TV station.

Watching a videoThe TV tuner has a VTR input terminal to which1 external device can be connected. Connect a12 V video cassette player (VCP) or videocassette recorder (VCR) to the TV tuner inputterminal.

1. Press and hold the [ADJ] button for 1 secondor longer.

2. To return to the TV broadcast, press andhold the [ADJ] button for 1 second or longer.

Setting the TV areaWhen you select the TV area (TV receptionarea), the TV tuner area setting changes.

1. Press the [ADJ] button to switch to theadjustment selection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “TV AREA <E>”.

3. Press the [ ] button.

4. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to select thereception area.

5. Press the [ ] button.

6. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

TV Operations Digital Radio / DAB OperationsDAB control functionWhen a CeNET cable is used to connect a DAB(DAH913 or DAH923) (sold separately), allfunctions can be operated.

Listening to the DAB station1. Press the [SRC] button to select the DAB

mode.

2. When the unit receives a DAB station, thedisplay changes in the following order:

Switching displays1. Press the [D] button to select the desired

display.

2. Each time you press the [D] button, thedisplay switches in the following order:

S-LABL PTY CLOCK S-LABL ...

Notes:• The display shown in the normal reception mode

and the preset reception mode is the same whena DAB station is received.

• The number of programmes and broadcastingtimes depend on the DAB stations.

• When the strength of DAB signals is weak, audiooutput is muted.

Seek tuning1. Press the [SRC] button to select the DAB

mode.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward or downwardand hold in position for 1 second or longer.

“DAB” lights up in the display when the mainunit receives a DAB station.* The main unit stops the seek tuning when it

cannot find a DAB station. The display returnsto the previous mode.

Manual tuning1. Press the [SRC] button to select the DAB

mode.

2. Press and hold the [BND] button for 1second or longer. “MANU” lights up in thedisplay.

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select a station.∗ If no operation is performed for more than 7

seconds, manual tuning is cancelled and thedisplay returns to the previous mode.

Setting the TV diverYou can change the reception setting for the TVantenna connected to the TV tuner.

1. Press the [ADJ] button to switch to theadjustment selection display.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select “TV DIVER”.

3. Turn the [ROTARY] knob to set to “ON” or“OFF”.

ON:Sets reception emphasizing the visual.

OFF:Sets the diver setting to OFF.

4. Press the [ADJ] button to return to theprevious mode.

Switching programmes1. Press the [SRC] button to receive a DAB

station.

2. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to switch programmes in the DABstation.

Note:• The programme name may be the same

depending on DAB programmes.

Programme scanThis function scans through each receivableprogramme in a DAB station being received for10 seconds sequentially. This is useful whenyou want to search for a desired programme.

1. Press the [SRC] button to receive a DABstation.

2. Perform the following operation dependingon the connected model.

Press the [ ] button. “SERVICE SC” lightsup and the unit starts scanning eachprogramme for 10 seconds sequentially.Each time the main unit scans, theprogramme name is shown in the display.

3. To stop programme scan when a desiredprogramme is tuned in.

Press the [ ] button.

Manual memoryThe main unit has a manual memory functionfor DAB programmes. Up to 18 programmes (6programmes each) can be preset in the presetbuttons.

[M1], [M2] and [M3]

1. Press the [SRC] button to select the DABmode.

2. Press and hold the [BND] button for 1second or longer to select any one shownabove.

3. Press the [a, d] lever upward ordownward to select a desired programme.

4. Press and hold one of the [DIRECT] buttons(1 to 6) for 2 seconds or longer to store theprogramme.

Note:• The interrupt programme (PTY or INFO) cannot

be written into a manual memory.

Recalling a preset programme1. Press the [SRC] button to select the DAB

mode.

2. Press the [BND] button. Each time you pressthe [BND] button, the display changes in thefollowing order:

[M1] [M2] [M3] [M1]...

3. Press one of the [DIRECT] buttons to recall apreset programme.

Note:• Press and hold the [DIRECT] button for 2

seconds or longer to store the programmecurrently being received. (Manual memory)

INFO (Announcement)In the INFO standby mode, when the selectedannouncement programme starts, the main unitswitches to the selected announcementprogramme automatically.

Setting the INFO standby modeIf you press and hold the [TA] button for 1second or longer, “INFO” lights in the displayand the main unit is set into the INFO standbymode until the selected announcement isbroadcast. When the selected announcementbroadcast starts, the announcement itemappears in the display. If you press and hold the[TA] button for 1 second or longer while theselected announcement broadcast is beingreceived, the selected announcement broadcastreception is cancelled and the main unit goesinto the INFO standby mode.

Cancelling INFO standby modeTo cancel the INFO standby mode, press andhold the [TA] button for 1 second or longer.

Information selectThis is a function for selecting INFORMATIONON or OFF in the Information interrupt mode.You can set ON up to 6 information items.
