3:30 PM To Be Or Not To Be - The Basis of Confidence

Yin Wu, Edward Bourgeau, Suman Muddusetti, Zhuxi Sun,Transocean, Shell, AKA

Yin Wu received her B.Sc. degree from Hohai University, China in 2003 and completed a Diploma of Engineering in

France. While pursuing a doctorate at the University of Texas, she joined Transocean’s Electrical Engineering group.

Yin advanced the company’s analytic and math modeling capabilities, applying these to innovations in power plants,

drilling systems and power plant risk management. In 2015, Yin received her Ph.D. in Energy Systems. She holds

patents in riser tension controls and motion compensation systems. She is currently a Professional Engineer in Texas,

and works as a senior electrical engineer with Transocean. Her research interests include offshore power generation

systems, including novel applications of hybrid power, improvement in the dynamics of offshore drilling processes and

riser system predictability.

4:00 PM Approaches to a Greener DP Vessel

Ivar Ihle, Frode Bloch, Jon Alme, Rolls-Royce Marine

Ivar Ande Ihle joined Rolls-Royce Marine as an engineer on the Poscon joystick and Icon DP systems in 2007. He has

been the industrial member of several Ph.D. committees, and is currently a part of the User Panel on Greener, Safer,

Smarter Marine Operations at the Center for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems, one of the Norwegian

University of Science and Technology’s Centers of Excellence. Ivar graduated from Norwegian University of Science

and Technology Department of Engineering Cybernetics with a Master of Technology in 2003 and was awarded a

Ph.D. in 2006.

4:30 PM “Fault Ride-Through” Testing of LV Power Solution, BlueDrive PlusC

Stig Olav Settemsdal, Lars Barstad, Kennet Tjong, Siemens

Stig Olav joined Siemens Power Electronic Centre in Trondheim as Engineer/Project Manager after graduating with

an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Trondheim (NTNU) in 1995/6. He became Technical

Manager of Drilling Systems in 2006 in charge of the development of the BlueDrive drilling drives system. In 2010 he

became Product Lifecycle Manager with Siemens Oil & Gas and initiated the DP3 closed ring power plant

development. He was appointed Global Head of Drilling Solutions in September 2012. In 2014 he was appointed

Head of Technology for Drilling & Marine Technology and is currently Global Head of Portfolio Management &

Innovation Offshore for Siemen’s offshore production, drilling, & oil and gas vessels.
