We offer students the opportunity to complete their Queensland Certificate of Education [QCE] and receive expert dance training at the same time. Students from Years 7 – 12 are enroled in distance education but also benefit from the support of two highly-qualified teachers who are in the classroom at all times.

Our program is designed to maximize student achievement in order to give access to a range of future opportunities including tertiary entrance.

We offer extensive full-time and part-time programs that include nationally recognised qualifications. Students can achieve accredited qualifications at the level of a Certificate II or can achieve as high as the Diploma level.

Our pioneering approach to education is based on providing the conditions that make a student self-directed and motivated to engage in enhancement learning opportunities. We believe that students need to acquire a broad set of skills in order to have success in further education and life. To prepare students we offer a rigorous curriculum that includes the teaching of 21st century skills such as communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. Dynamite Studios Academy Performing Arts High School is a DSA innovation, providing a unique opportunity to students who want to work towards a Performing Arts Career and gain qualifications whilst they are completing Secondary School Studies.

It is a full-time program for students in Years 7 to 12 who display exceptional talent in the performing arts. Dynamite Studios Academy High School has been running since 2013 and has the experience of crafting the perfect blend of education and performing arts training with proven results of leading students on a guided pathway to success.

Dynamite Studios Academy Performing Arts High School combines compulsory educational subjects and high quality performance classes in a friendly but structured environment. We have two full-time highly qualified High School teachers acting as supervisors in the classroom at all times during school hours for our junior school and senior school. The supervisors are in the classroom for disciplinary reasons as well as to provide extra assistance to students if they wish to book private or small group tutorial sessions. A student’s academic studies are a huge priority to DSA, making sure students are handing their work in on time to their chosen distance education provider. Students have close mentoring with DSA’s Artistic Director and Course Advisor to fully support the student’s individual success, well-being and provide guidance with their career pathway goals.

Students of the Dynamite Studios Academy Performing Arts High School are more than just talented; they have passion, drive, a high level of commitment to their performance and are focused on pursuing a career in the arts. We pride ourselves on selecting the right type of student to

ensure that they are the correct fit for the program and placement is based on an audition and interview process. The DSA program is available for Performing Arts High School students from 9:00am – 3:30pm Monday through to Friday.

DSA High School students train in various styles such as Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Stretch & Technique, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Acting, Circus Skills, Stunt Training, TVC Castings, Career Guidance, Well-Being programs, Audition Preparation Workshops, Vocal Coaching and Industry Coaching.

Each week the students will have the opportunity to work with well- known local and interstate guest choreographers. Dynamite Studios Academy High School prides itself on providing a safe, supportive

and professional learning environment, whereby students are instructed by highly qualified educators and industry staff who closely mentor students and provide specialised individual attention. Our high school students work with up to four interstate professional guests each week to ensure national industry standards are met.

Throughout the year, students will be involved in special events such as sports days, excursions, awards evenings, experience days and our graduation production. Year 12 graduation is celebrated in a private, formal function hosted by Dynamite Studios Academy.

We offer a full academic program for school aged students from Year 7 to Year 12.

DSA offer a Triple Threat Package which includes Performing Arts High School and unlimited Dynamite Studios Australia afternoon classes for students in Years 7 & 8 and Performing Arts High School, accredited course and unlimited Dynamite Studios Australia afternoon classes for students in Years 9 - 12.

D I S T A N C E E D U C A T I O N

Students who are accepted into Dynamite Studios Academy must independently enrol with their choice of distance education provider. Students are provided with Internet access for academic studies; however, students must provide their own laptop, headphones and stationary.

*Please note that the deposit is non-refundable. And any fees paid upfront are also non-refundable. Your payments are set up to run for a consecutive amount of weeks ensuring that all contract values are completed by the graduation performance date. This does mean payments will be deducted over the school holiday period to keep your weekly costs to a minimum. Payment can be made via the third party direct debit company ezidebit. Payments will be deducted on a weekly basis which will occur friday of each week. Direct debits will only be deducted from the authorised account that is listed on the ezidebit form. Payment can also be paid upfront, which you will receive a 10% discount if done so.*All fees are non-refundable. If a student withdraws from the high school or a course at any stage once commenced, payments will continue for the full duration of the course as agreed, with no refund for fees or costume fees paid.

PRIOR TO ENROLMENT

A U D I T I O N

Course entry is by audition. The audition is either held face to face or digitally. Students must demonstrate competence in a minimum of one dance style at the appropriate Certificate level applied for. An application for audition or expression of interest can be made by contacting our enquiries and enrolment department on 1300 363 207 or [email protected]. Alternatively, group auditions are held in the form of open Experience Days at Dynamite Studios Academy four times a year. These Experience Days or open auditions give potential students an opportunity to experience a day in the life of a course student. Auditions are facilitated by Dynamite Studios Academy Core Faculty staff and experienced industry personnel, who make themselves available on the day to answer any queries, conduct initial interviews and provide a studio tour.

P R I O R T O E N R O L M E N T

Dynamite Studios Academy is committed to ensuring each student, prior to finalising the enrolment process or the commencement of training, has been provided with: accurate, current and relevant information about possible courses of study and, including but not limited to information about modes of delivery, duration of programs, the amount of training, location, associated fees and the opportunity to attend an audition, submit an electronic application and/or attend an interview. To ensure that all students meet the program entry requirements and course selection is consistent with students’ learning capabilities and career or employment goals, each student may undertake a pre-enrolment assessment and interview, either face to face or via phone. The aim of this assessment and interview is to identify the aspirations of each individual and assess their existing skills and learner capacity to ensure that their training choices are consistent with their needs, capability and means.

O F F E R S

DSA will advise students of an offer within five (5) working days of the first interview, audition or Experience Day (whichever is the most relevant). Each student selected to enter DSA accredited programs will receive an official Letter of Offer into the Academy. When accepting the offer, a student has 28 days to notify DSA to secure their place in the program.

Dynamite Studios Academy has a waiting list for each of its programs and it would be most appreciated if notification to decline an offer is received by DSA at the earliest convenience so that offers can be made to other students.

Once you have chosen to accept your offer, please inform DSA at your earliest convenience to secure a student’s enrolment, as spots are limited, and not guaranteed for chosen intake.

DSA also offers a fourteen (14) day cooling off period where you still have the opportunity to decline the offer. You are encouraged to read the Student Handbook, available on our website www.dsa.com.au, to give you a broader understanding of the company and how DSA operates.

V O C A T I O N A L E D U C A T I O N & T R A I N I N G ( V E T )

Vocational Education & Training (VET) programs are available to students in Years 9 – 10. Depending on dance experience, students can enrol in the CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance or the CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance in addition to completing their academic studies.

Students in Year 11 and 12 may complete a CUA30113 Certificate III In Dance or CUA40113 Certificate IV in Dance at the same time as completing their Queensland Certificate of Education. Secondary students also have the option to participate in Trinity College London Musical Theatre and Vocal Examinations.

A D O P T A D A N C E R

The Dynamite Studios Academy Adopt-A-Dancer program has been designed for students who wish to move from their current home location to reside in a new home on the Gold Coast, while they continue their performing arts training. Students as young as 16, who are passionate about furthering their career and training in performing arts, are welcomed into the homes of some of our current DSA families. Want to kick start your career in the performing arts industry?Dynamite Studios Academy’s CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance is a part-time program offered (but not limited) to students in years nine (9) and ten (10) at any secondary school. This course is generally offered one full day per week and follows the Queensland School term timetable, typically on a Thursday or Friday, 9.00am to 3.30pm, four terms a year over a two-year period. Students may complete the Certificate II in one year and this would be negotiated in a pre-enrolment interview.

Whilst the core units and electives remain the same, the practical tuition is timetabled to reflect each stream accordingly. On offer and integrated into DSA’s accredited training programs, is exposure to the industry’s finest choreographers and performers.

The CUA20113 Certificate II in Dance has ten (10) units of competency, seven (7) Core units and three (3) Elective units. Uniquely, DSA offers Certificate II students the option of study in two (2) streams.

Want to extend your industry training whilst completing your senior school certificate and gaining credit points towards your QCE?Dynamite Studios Academy’s CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance is a part time program offered (but not limited) to students in years eleven (11) and twelve (12) at any secondary school. This course is generally offered one full day per week and follows the Queensland School term timetable, typically on a Thursday or Friday, 9.00am to 3.30pm, four terms a year over a two-year period. Students may complete the CUA30113 Certificate III in one year and this would be negotiated in a pre-enrolment interview. DSA’s CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance will build on the dance foundation a student has established during Certificate II studies. The CUA30113 Certificate III in Dance compliments a student’s Secondary School studies with credit points towards the QCE, adding a total of 8 credit points.

Whilst the Core Units and Electives remain the same, the practical tuition is timetabled to reflect each stream accordingly. On offer and integrated into DSA’s accredited training programs, is exposure to the industry’s best choreographers and performers.

Our full-time courses offer training across multiple dance disciplines as well as provide elective subjects within multiple entertainment industries where personalized support is guaranteed to help map each student's career pathway.

• We offer full-time dance programs for our CUA40113 Certificate IV in Dance, CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) and CUA50213 Diploma of Musical Theatre.

• Students undertake study at our premises Monday – Friday 9:00am-3:30pm.

• Courses are run according to the Queensland School terms.

This course is a program that requires commitment, a high level of participation and time management as it is the link to the world of professional performance. The workload is intensive and challenging and the rewards are endless. DSA has built strong links with industry professionals nationally and overseas and has established their Certificate IV program based on that collaboration and developed benchmarks accordingly. DSA also recognises that talent is developed at various stages, as is technique and stagecraft. With this knowledge, DSA offers the Certificate IV with two options of study.

CUA40113 CERTIFICATE IV IN DANCE

• Option one (1) Full-time Program – Monday to Friday 9.00am - 3.30pm over four terms that follow the Queensland School Term. The full-time program is developed for students who have left school. Students who enrol in the full-time program are able to attend unlimited open classes, at no additional cost.

• Option two (2) Part-Time Program – up to 22 contact hours a week over four terms that follow the Queensland School Term. Students who are still in Year 12 at Secondary School may enrol in the Certificate IV and add credit points to their QCE. The CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management aims to facilitate the development of professional skills in business operations, lesson planning, first aid and learning program development as well as a broad range of elective subjects. This program is designed for the dance teacher by experienced dance teachers and managers. Students who successfully complete this qualification will enhance their employability and preparation for further career opportunities.

Dynamite Studios Academy offers the CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management as a flexibly delivered program over twelve (12) months. A range of delivery options have been developed for the busy dance teacher which includes, but is not limited to:

• 20 Week (6 month) - intensive program which includes face to face delivery workshops, self-directed study and assessments.

• 48 week (12 month) - program combining twelve (12) monthly face to face or electronic conferencing and self- directed study and assessments.

• Build your own program - this option is for the experienced teacher or trainer who is able to work in a self- managed study option. Dynamite Studios Academy will issue learning resources and assessments unit by unit or in a cluster and the student can work at their own pace over a twelve month period. Very experienced trainers and assessors are available as support with the student choosing this option of study via email or phone with a response of 48 hours guaranteed. An added bonus on offer with this product is an invitation to our CUA40313 Certificate IV Dance Teaching and Management. Students can join us on the various experience days we schedule throughout our Academy year to gain experience alongside some of the best trainers and choreographers from around the country. This is an opportunity to experience firsthand the latest choreographic techniques, teaching skills, self-management and all aspects of running a Performing Arts business across a variety of situations. The CUA40313 Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management has fourteen (14) units of competency and is a nationally recognised qualification. Dynamite Studios Academy offers their CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) as a full-time program delivered over one (1) year where students have completed the CUA40113 Certificate IV in Dance or can demonstrate competence in at least one dance style at Certificate IV level. The full-time program for this qualification follows the Queensland School Term Timetable. The CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) runs five days a week from 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday.

CUA50113 DIPLOMA OF DANCE (ELITE PERFORMANCE)

The CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) has seventeen (17) units of competency, comprising of nine (9) Core Units and eight (8) Elective Units. Uniquely the CUA50113 Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) offers students two streams of study to cater for varying strengths, career aspirations and elite professionals.

Stream One (1) - Commercial Dance – incorporates (but not limited to), Contemporary, Showgirl, Ballet, Commercial Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Tap, Musical Theatre, Conditioning, Stretch and Technique and Fitness.

Stream Two (2) - Circus stream - a blend of Dance, Circus Arts, Acrobatics, Aerial, Tumbling, Stunt Training, Fitness and Conditioning.

Want to become a self-promoting, professional performer, creating your own work opportunities and designing and controlling your own career in musical theatre and live performance?The CUA50213 Diploma of Musical Theatre course is an intensive one-year training program for students who have the potential to achieve excellent standards in the three core disciplines of singing, acting and dancing. This program aims for each student to develop the rigor and skill to be competitive in the industry and graduate with highly developed skills in dancing, singing and acting.

The program is driven by industry professionals and delivered by practicing artists. Training is practical with a distribution of classes in singing, acting and dance, in ensemble, solo and musical theatre repertoire. Students will get the opportunity throughout the program to showcase their skills in live performances.
