FINANCIAL NEWS

Liturgy and Life

by Tim McManus, Pastoral Associate of Worship

Easter Sunday is not having the same “feels” as previous

years. No in-church service, new clothes, lilies, and large

gatherings.

Consider the first Easter. Nothing felt right for the women

going to the tomb. Their Master was dead, and they carried

fresh linens. Happiness and joy were far from their hearts.

Then came the appearance of angels.

Next, they saw the empty tomb.

After that, Jesus appeared to them.

Finally, the doubts, scorn, and ridicule of the apostles.

The first Easter had all the feels, but not in a way that we’ve

come to experience. Until this year.

If we allow ourselves to believe in the Resurrection, then

God will use everything to His glory. If we die with Him, we

will rise with Him. There is no lack in God’s kingdom, but

there is abundant joy in the end.

So, do not let your hearts be troubled by not having the

perfect honey ham, the spring break cruise, or the extended

family visits. Jesus is here among us in our disbelief, our

scorn, our doubts. Easter still rolls away the stone in front of

our hearts.

That is reason enough to sing “Jesus Christ is risen today”

and end it with a full bodied “Al-le-lu-i-a!”

again gather together to celebrate Mass. Let us continue to pray for that day to come!

Easter Candle 2020

This year’s Easter candle was

designed by parishioner Jessica

Bohrer using acrylic paints on

canvas, which is wrapped around

the candle.

The cross is centered with a band

depicting thorns at the top and a

band of roses at the bottom.

These details were chosen to

represent the thorns surrounding

the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the

roses, surrounding the

Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The cross is painted silver with a

band of gold on a background of

blue, and bordering bands are

done in a palette of green,

burgundy and gold.

Many thanks to Jessica for

sharing her beautiful artwork!

6:30 pm: Adult Catholic Exploration with Fr. James De Oreo

Join Fr. De Oreo in continuing exploration of our faith.

“Do not be afraid! I know

that you are seeking Jesus

the crucified. He is not

here, for he has been

raised just as he said.

Come and see the place

where he lay. Then go

quickly and tell his

disciples, ‘He has been

raised from the dead, and

he is going before you to

Galilee; there you will see

him.’ Behold, I have told

you.” - Mt 28:5b-7
