Commerce means interchange of goods.

Similarly, e-commerce means interchange of goods electronically.

History of e-commerce backs up in very early on in the 1960s.

E=commerce became possible in 1991 when the Internet was available for commercial use.

Amazon and E-Bay are among the first Internet companies to allow electronic transactions.
