E-Governance Should Aim At Corruption-Free Administration

New Delhi, Feb., 11: The corruption-Free Administration should aim at resolving various
administrative issues through Information Technology based administration, expressed Maharashtra State
Governor, K.Sankaranarayanan.
The two day 14th National Conference on E-Governance was jointly organized by Government of
India’s Department of Information Technology, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public
Grievances and State’s Directorate of Information Technology at Aurangabad. Present at the Conference were
Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan, MoS at Prime Minister’s Office, V.Narayanswamy,
Aurangabad Guardian Minister, Balasaheb Thorat, Cooperation Minister, Harshawardhan Patil, Minister of
State for Information and Public Relations, Smt.Fouziya Khan, MPs Chandrakant Khaire and Rajkumar
Dhoot, Government of India’s Secretary R.C. Mishra, Additional Secretary Dr.Amitabh Rajan and Shankar
Aggarwal. State Inforamtion Technoloty Secretary, Dr. Nitin Kareer and Aurangabad Divisional
Commissioner, Bhaskar Munde were also present.
H.E. Governor, K.Sankarnarayan in his speech said that, Corruption is one of the biggest hurdles in
good governance. It is spoiling the fair image of the country. There is wide spread resentment in society and
media over corruption and its magnitude. Expressing his desire of making corruption-free administration, the
Governor said that E-Governance would make it happen by simplifying procedures and removing
unnecessary requirements. He further said E-Governance is about efficient governance, effective governance
and empowering governance. The ultimate goal of E-Governance is to make all public services accessible to
common man in his locality at affordable costs.
Speaking on Indian Economy, the Governor said, India has become the cynosure of the world for
consistently registering a growth rate of around 9% during the last few years, and in order to continue this
growth momentum, we have to make sure that the growth is inclusive and touches the life of the last person
on the radar.
Good Governance implies people’s participation, rule of law, transparency, responsiveness, equality
and inclusion and accountability, said the Governor. Speaking on various administrative programmes based
on IT, K.Sankaranarayan expressed that the basic objective of good Governance should be and remain welfare
of the people, welfare of the last person, Antyodaya.
The Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan said in his speech that Maharashtra would be a leading State to
implement Centre’s ‘Aadhar’ programme. He informed that, ‘Aadhar’ and IT based various administrative
reforms working in tandem would definitely help us in making our schemes more people oriented and aim
towards perfection. We have always been in the forefront in adopting E-Governance to facilitate anytime
anywhere access to citizen services and to percolate the use of 17 and E-Governance to bring in further
efficiency and transparency in delivery of Government services. Shri Chavan further said that the initial
language and other computer related hiccups have been removed, and through affective, immediate and
transparency the common man has been able to avail the benefits under various schemes. Maharashtra has
been taking progressive lead in implementing IT reforms that is the reason, that the rapid progressing
Aurangabad District is holding a National Conference on IT.
The Minister of State at Prime Minister’s office, V.Narayanswamy spoke on transparency and moral
values associated with E-Governance and said that this objective would be achieved through it. He stressed
that administrative reforms should be simplified; accountability and responsibility should be fixed. The E-
Governance should made people friendly. This would help bridge the gap between the people and the
Government.
