Dear citizens and residents,

Safety is a personal responsibility, with

greater implications to society as a whole.

Thus, we should think about safety meas-

ures in everything we do in order to avoid

any harm to others and ourselves.

In this pamphlet, we will clarify the impor-

tance of owning, using and maintaining

different kinds of handheld fire extinguish-

ers and the role they play in preserving the

safety of our possessions and ourselves.

This serves as a good way to prevent

damage caused by fires and stop the fire in

its early stages.

Dry Chemical:

These powder-based extinguishers are

used to put out all kinds of fires from Class

A, B and C substances, like burning wood,

paper, clothing, textiles, electrical fires, oils

and flammable liquids. It is suitable for elec-

trical fires because it does not conduct elec-

tricity. However, this extinguisher is not

recommended to use for electrical fires

when the "High voltage" exceeds 1000

volts.

This type of extinguisher is considered the

best and it is recommended to be supplied

in all kinds of places.

Foam:

This is used in putting out Class B fires, like

those involving benzene, oils, kerosene,

and so on, and other related hydrocarbons

both liquids and solids. However, this is not

used for electrical fires because it conducts

electricity, and using it for such fires would

put the user at risk.

Water:

This is used to fight fires related to Class A

carbonic solids and substances that are

easily ignited, like wood and paper; it is not

used for fighting fires of flammable liquids

or electrical fires.

Carbon Dioxide:

This type is used for extinguishing fires

resulting from flammable liquids, oils, and

electric currents of Classes B and C. How-

ever, this is not used for hard objects or

minerals (metals) that catch fire. This

method can also result in poisoning the

user if used in enclosed spaces.

Fire Blanket:

A fire blanket can be used to extinguish

simple fires. The way to use it is very

simple: remove it from its container and

place it completely over the burning object

to restrict all oxygen.

The fire blanket is also used to wrap people

when their clothes catch fire.

How to Use the Extinguisher:

1. Read the directions printed on the device

to make sure it is the correct extinguisher

for the fire you are fighting, and make sure it

is ready for usage (indicator is on the

green).

2. Stand a good distance away from the fire

and always be in the direction of the wind

(so the wind does not bring anything toward

you).

3. Pull the safety pin from the extinguisher.

4. Direct the nozzle toward the base of the

fire.

5. Press the operating handgrip.

6. Fight the fire from its base: right to left, left

to right.

How to Examine the Extinguisher Exter-

nally:
