One sunny morning in the year of 1935, it all started inthe beautiful golden palace of the King of Mysore. The King

was sitting on his lovely, comfy, cushiony spa chair.

Just at that moment, he stood up from the chair and he realized that it was lunchtime.

He ran to the royal dining room like acheetah chasing its prey and sat down.

He called out to the royal attendants,“Pass me my food, I am starving!” One of the

attendants quickly went into the royal kitchen andtold the Royal Chef to prepare food for the king.

The King waited impatiently until finally the Chef was done! The royal attendant passed a huge thali (a large metal plate)

filled with every type of food you could think of. There were delicious dishes of cooked rice and dal with

vegetables and different meats arranged with breads in the thali. The king was delighted with what he saw, and he said,

“This is Magnificent! Excellento! Atyuttame!”

Oh! You forgot the sweet!”

All the attendants were shocked and turned pale!A nervous attendant asked him “Would you like some kheer (milk and rice pudding)

your Majesty?” The King replied, “I’ve been having it since I was a baby and Iwant something new and different”.

The attendants, all ran into the royal kitchen where Madupa, the Royal Chef was cleaning up. All the attendants shouted at the

same time, “YOU FORGOT THE SWEET DISH!!”.

“New?! How can I make a new sweet?”,Madupa asked in horror. “I cannot invent a sweet in a minute,

I am a chef not a magician.” said Madupa in shock

Then Madupa looked up lazily and said,” Oh that’s fine,I will serve some kheer. I already made it yesterday.”

“NO! the king wants something different, something new!”said one tall looking attendant.

He told his assistant to get the ingredients that were therein the kitchen for making sweets and the assistant only gothim ghee(butter), sugar and gram flour. Madupa looked at

what his assistant got and said,“Is this all you could find for making sweets?”

Madupa then started to wonder if the King would have mercy and only fire himinstead of throwing him in the dungeon. He looked at the ingredients again and

had an idea. Then he started to cook like Gordon Ramsay.

Madupa then gave the sweet dish to the attendant and then theattendant served the King. The king looked at the sweet and

picked it up very slowly. “Now this is something new!”, he said.

When he was done cooking, the final dish looked like an orange coloredsweet which was soft like a pillow. Slightly crunchy but not hard.

The cube had a perfect texture with a delicious aromaand would melt in your mouth

Everyone in the royal dining room was shaking with fear and sweat was rollingdown their face. They all were worried what would happen if the king did notlike the sweet, they had served. The king took one small bite and stayed silent.

Madupa asked the King,

“Your Majesty, how did you like the sweet?”The king replied, “I am speechless! It is wonderful, fabulous and awesome.”

He then asked Madupa, in a nice calm voice, “What is the sweet called?”

How to make Mysore Pak

Step 1: Roast the gram flour

Ingredients of Mysore Pak (12 servings)• 12 Servings• 2 cup sugar• 1 pinch baking soda• 1 cup gram flour (besan)• 3 cup ghee• 1 cup water

Mysore Pak is an easy-to-make sweet delicacy, which can be prepared very easilyat home. Add 1 cup of ghee to a pan and heat it over medium flame. Once the gheeis sufficiently hot, add gram flour in it and roast it for a few minutes. Make surethat you roast the gram flour properly so that the raw smell goes away.

Stir and pour into a greased plate. Gently spread the mixture and allow it to cool. Before it hardens fully, slice into desired shapes. Store in an airtight containerand serve as you like. This scrumptious dessert recipe is sure to be loved by peopleof all ages. Try this easy dessert recipe and give your meal a perfect ending!

In another pan, boil the sugar with water till it reaches one string consistency. When the sugar syrup is prepared, add the fried gram flour in it and stir well tillit thickens. Heat the remaining ghee and gently add the gram flour mixture. Keepstirring continuously so that no lumps are formed. When the ghee starts to rise upfrom the sides and begins to separate, add the cooking soda.

Step 2: Prepare the sugar syrup

1. This recipe calls for a lot of handy work, so make sure that you use a good quality of kadhai or deep-pan.

2. Use a heavy-bottomed or iron kadhai so as to make sure that the besan doesn't burn.

3. For roasting the gram flour, use good amount of ghee. If you use less ghee, it would not result in a soft Mysore Pak.

4. Also, be cautious of stirring gram flour as you need to keep an eye for ghee leaving the sides.

Step 3: Spread the gram flour batterand cool for shaping it
